When I was 4 years old and got bit on my face and in my mouth by a stray dog I had to get 14 rabies shots in my stomach.....(very painful) my dad told me if I didn't cry on the 14th shot he would buy me anything I wanted.....this is what I wanted...now it's my Grandson Blaze owns it .

I had to go through rabies shots about 25 years ago. By then they were no longer put into your stomach. They were given in the shoulder and pretty much the same experience as a tetanus shot. Only real pain was the night I started I had to multiple shots (based on your weight) plus a tetanus shot plus antibiotics. I got shots in both shoulders, both cheeks and thighs. Felt like a human pin cushion.

Cool that you kept that wagon to be able to pass it on.

I got bit at about 9 year sold by a St. Bernard. An upper canine got me above the right eye and a lower canine got me below the left eye. If I had been an inch taller or an inch shorter, I'm certain would have lost one of my eyes.

The dog killed itself while in quarantine. It jumped through a garage door window and the chain was too short for him to land on the other side.

Growing up the thought of rabies shots scared me and my friends almost as much as polio or the Cuban Missile Crisis. No one I knew had to take them - it was always rumors of some poor kid the next town over. The thought of 14 shots in the gut seemed about as bad a fate as a kid could have.

My dad always warned me about "blood poison" - He'd nearly lost a foot after stepping on a nail and getting a bad infection.

Family history story to go with the wagon

What is even better is the wagon still has the original paint.
