I'm not sure if it will accept credit cards or not.

A few years ago they would not allow Philippine accounts to accept credit cards, so I use my US account just for that.

They may allow it now but I have not tested it to see.

I think it is 50 cents for $100, and they would charge .10 cents per $10

I have sent money from Paypal in the past using bank balance instead of Paypal funds, it works the same but shows as pending until Paypal gets it from the bank.

I was asking around last night and found out there are about 320 kids in the grade school here in our village.

This is including the preschoolers age 4, age 5 kinder through about age 11, 6th grade.

This is not including the age 2 and 3 kids, and kids that do not go to school as they are not required to here. and some family's cannot afford to send their kids to school.

The best guess we can come up with is about 400 kids here.

But not all of them will know this is going on or will show up when we do this. Unless we make some kind of advance announcement.

I'm a bit scared to do that in advance because other villages will show up and then there wont be enough to go around.

A few ways to go about this would be when we are ready to give the toys away, either Christmas eve or Christmas day, there will probably be party at the Basketball court here as they do every year.

We can have the DJ make an announcement at that time and start giving them away right then till we run out.

Or we could load up a truck and drive around going house to house on Christmas day.

I'm not sure the best way to go about it yet.

Easiest would be have them line up at the plaza..

But if by chance a Miracle happens and you show up in a Santa Suit, driving around might be fun.

I will go talk to the German and his wife that gave away candy last year to see if they plan to do it again, that would probably be the best time to schedule together if they do.

We have plenty of time to work out the details...

Yup..

If you book a flight I will meet you at the airport.

There are some flights direct to Cebu, sometimes it is cheaper to route through Manilla, and then it is only an hour flight down to Cebu from there.

What kinda prices are you coming up with?

In the past I have found good deals on Expedia, but the rates change so fast the best way to plan for short layovers, and price I found is going through a Travel Agent.. A good one that takes their time is worth it.

If you were to come a week or two early, you can help with the shopping.

That's going to be a lot of stuff to pack back from the City!

I'm going over to town Monday and plan to ask the owner of the store where I bought the toy cars from last year, if they will make us a deal in volume.

Update.

We are up to $698 now
(including the converted Canadian money Kingpin sent)

I talked to the German and his wife today that gave out candy last year to the kids.

She tells me that they made up little sacks and gave them to about 250 kids that showed up last year.. I'm guessing the word is out now, and more will show up this year.

She also tells me that she will try to find out a better idea of how many are boys, and how many girls, so we have a better idea on what toys to stock up on more.

I want to work with them and do the toys give away at the same time as they do their candy give away on Christmas day.

The Barangay Captain (Village Chief) tells me there will be another Christmas party at the basketball court again this year. They just play music, have a few dance contest for the kids, and simple stuff like that.

A few years ago I took quite a bit of candy over there and just started throwing it in the air above them with no warning, it was fun to watch them scatter and chase it as soon as they realized what was going on.

As I said before, none of these kids ever get Toys for Christmas.

Their family's are poor, many live in dirt floored huts with no electric even, and it will be the first time ever for most of them.

I am really looking forward to seeing the smiles on their faces this year.

(And will get lots of photos)
