Very rare circumstances in our history where a 3rd party has a chance in a national election. Our current era is not one of them.

Perot was well liked; and in 1992 he was included in most of the televised debates.

I thought John Anderson would of done well; but he was shut-out early in the game (1980)... never had a chance.

No, it doesn't.

There has been much analysis of Perot's influence of the electoral college results.....you know, how we elect presidents. Even the most generous dispensing of Perot's vote total to Bush only changed 4 states, and that wouldn't have changed the end results.

I'm hoping that, given the unpopularity of both candidates this round, the Libertarians make a decent showing, and generate some interest for the next time.

I'm not worried that my vote is going to make a difference. The electoral college favors the Dems these days; and since the Pubs didn't put up a candidate that is substantially liked any more than Billary, it's going to go her way; it would have been different with a better candidate...

I know quite a few people with similar outlooks. Hillary is bad, Trump is worse, and Johnson...might actually be okay.

You should know/hang out with different people.

Bob Barr, who I initially liked, couldn't help but stumble in front of a camera. I think he unintentionally damaged the Libertarian party in general.
I worry that there won't be a next time. These 21st century democrats will try their best to forbid you from voting the next time; their reasons will be because you are either one of these:

* racist
* bigoted
* sexist
* homophobic
* Islamaphobic
* Transgender phobic
* ManMade global warming denying
* wage earning...

threat to society.

'nother historical modern-era fact; incumbents are difficult to stop from getting a second term.

very few things about Europe enthuse me, but their political party makeup is interesting. They seem to have 8-10 political parties... all going strong... all at the same time.

No single party could come close to winning an election by themselves; so they must make alliances with 2-3 other parties to affect a win. This keeps a single party from getting so narrow-minded/single-platform.

I think our Reform and Libertarian parties should try to gain favor with other parties.. Oh, I don't mean "merge" (because that ends up being a surrender); but form an alliance with one of the larger parties... if certain guarentees are given. Only then would they withdraw their candidate.. and tell their loyalists to vote for "xxx" because it's best for them in the long run.

And 4 years later, the alliance process starts all over again.

I'm not that dooms-day. There is enough separation of power to prevent that.

I also don't believe Billary will serve a second term. Two terms is usually the limit that the country can stand one party in the Whitehouse. Unless she does something really remarkably positive (and I don't believe it's in her). As long as the Pubs don't do something stupid (...again), she'll likely be defeated; historically, the odds are not in her favor.

Here's the deal though, I've been pretty prosperous despite of what these bone-heads, on both sides, have done, or not done...I'm going to keep doing what I know to do, and I figure I'll continue to be okay.

They have a homogeneous ethnic population of less than the city of Tulsa. I'm sure you can find many examples of places with just the right amount of X that you'd like, right here in the USA, because we have states with some remaining autonomy. In your case you want a socialist paradise. Venezuela was the latest experiment on that, but there's always hope.

I wouldn't trust any poll by a national news media outlet. Why is it Trump keeps getting huge crowds and Hillary gets so few people she cancels hers?

Yes he is but he is much less of one than Hitlery. Congressional republicans won't just go along with Trump but Congressional Democrats will back everything Hitlery wants.
