“Most people who profess a deep love of the Bible have never actually read the book,” says Rabbi Rami Shapiro, who once had to persuade a student in his Bible class at Middle Tennessee State University that the saying “this dog won’t hunt” doesn’t appear in the Book of Proverbs.
Ah...Tennessee.

*Religion is made by man. Moses was man. Constantine was a man. Everyone involved are men. That's why religion is man made*

The "three wise men" thing always amuses me. People just assume that because three types of gifts were listed, that there must have only been three guys.

Weird what happens when a book is used by most of the population and is quoted or misquoted often--it becomes famous!

In other news, we likely won't see a "That's not in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" article, either.

There are also far more articles about Sean Connery than there are of you or me.

Is this another Christianity bashing thread ?

Is there a suggestion that their motives/beliefs are wrong because of these errors .?

And how would a bunch of primitive goat herders know the difference between a huge assed fish and a whale ? ..

So if visitors to a funeral come bearing flowers and incense, that means one should infer that there were only two visitors. Right?

Frankly, I would think it to be insulting that such a monumental event as the birth of Christ would be attended by only three visitors.

Nothing of the sort was said, implied, or meant.

But when a book is as important to so many people as the Bible is, one should endeavor to get it right when claiming that certain things appear in it. Same goes for the Qu'ran, the Torah, the U.S. Constitution, etc.

The last time I checked most American Christians who use the internet aren't primitive goat herders.

Oh, wait... this was supposed to be a story about a humble beginning for the son of God. Never mind.

You got me wrong ..

I'm not so sure the article wasn't doing some subtle bashing .. A sort of drip drip drip undermining job that is becoming more frequent these days ..

To me it was quietly mocking Christians for not knowing exactly what is written even though it has no bearing on their faith ..What effin difference does it make whether it was whale or an obese tuna .What difference does it make if there were three asrtologers or two dozen autograph hunters ? .Etc. Etc. ----- WGAF ? ..Nit pickin nonsense is what i call it -- but insidious all the same ..

The core beliefs , teachings and principles remain intact and valid so the writers should STFU ....

I somewhat agree but I would also say, IMHO, if someone is of a belief system they should know why the believe it and what is in the "manual".

Saying something in the Bible (or pick your religious book of choice) and it's not is akin to getting forwarded bogus emails by people with good intentions.

Just my .02.
But bogus emails from people with good intentions are not called ''dangerous'' .
