Bob across the street and downhill a tad has fallen so many times, it's really getting pathetic....he was at the airport going up north about a month ago, and fell before he got on the flight.....4 people had to cancel the flight......has hit his head and busted up limbs, knees......not good...someone gotta stay with him all the time, wife had to leave for a funeral.....and one of the guys here stayed with Bob.....Ernie directly across the street is getting very unsteady age 82...alone too....his niece comes over quite often, his older sis is in bad shape too...some of us are FAR better at gaming the system than others.....I never knew the disability crap with SSec. are so weak, I could have collected decades ago......never did, and not eligible now.....I have a nephew who is totally worthless and never did a damn thing, but somehow he get .gov disability insurance because of 'mental' trauma from some bullshit that never happened.....all in all it makes me feel like an idiot.....

repeatedly being asked "what do you hate about getting older?"

Talking about things (like cassette tapes, VCR's, TV shows) and people not knowing what you are talking about.

Not having the energy that I used to...not being able to stay up as late as I used to, and not being able to function on as little sleep as I used to.

All the aches & pains, as others have mentioned, and the longer time to recover, heal, etc. My knees are really bad; ortho doc says I'm a prime candidate for replacements, but I want to put it off as long as possible. Less likely to need them done again in my lifetime, and better techniques may come along while I'm procrastinating.

What has bothered me most recently about getting older is realizing how many of my contemporaries have passed on. I'm 71, and many members of my high school class are gone, as are several of my similarly-aged co-workers from before I retired.

While I get older, the women stay young. Since I am not wealthy, they have no interest in me. College cheerleaders can be so tasty looking.

Acquiring enough wisdom to clearly see how horribly misguided much of the world is.

The joy of not going to work anymore far outweighs any downsides. I have been fortunate with my health so far, though. I feel badly for those who haven't, like my wife.

Kind of a bummer going to funerals for good friends.

I am 55 years old and still feel like a kid. I am grateful for that.

What does bother me is how I wasted my youth.

Making sure my son does not make the same mistakes I made throughout the years, basically have him do the opposite of what i've done.

I used to check the obituaries for parents of my peers, like people I went to school with. NOW.....I'm finding the peers in there once in a while! Almost all of their parents are gone now...You know you're getting on when those around you are dropping!

Pretty much this. At 62, I'm grateful I came through this far in as good a shape as I did.

All these, and not being about to work out for 1 hour, then play racquetball for 2 hours straight, then enjoy a large pizza and pitcher of beer.
