Legendary Le Mans Corvette up for auction

This car went through a lot of controversy several years back. Lance Miller who owns the #3 car (his father was the founder of Corvettes at Carlisle) told me one time they thought the missing race car was in FL. Sure enough, years later it was discovered there. He bought it and a huge legal deal ensued over it after the PO realized how famous the car was. Something like it was in the PO fathers estate and who was the REAL owner vs name on last known good title, etc...The authorities actually confiscated the car from Lance's moms house during one of the Corvettes at Carlisle events. Lance is a good guy and good for the hobby. I have NEVER thought of him trying to cheat anyone. He paid GOOD money for the car in the condition it was found in. The famous Corvette restorer who helped restore the #3 Le Mans car was to be rewarded with the chance to own this car. That was before the legal battles over ownership dragged out in courts for so long. Lance has serious money invested in it and couldn't touch it or get his money back. I'm not sure how it all eventually worked out...the article doesn't mention ANY of it.

I did see and hear the #3 car at the NCM one time. They were offering rides for $ that was donated to a non-profit.

Glad to see it all worked out now and hope that Lance WAS/IS rewarded ownership of it. He found it and paid good money for it on what he thought was a good title and ownership history.

Very cool! I can't even begin to imagine what it would cost to fully restore that car, or what it would be worth after restoration.

Possession is 9/10'ths of the law. He bought it, so it should be his. The other guy willingly sold it. Stupidity is not a legal defense no matter how many times you admit it.

Just a beat up race car back in the day. He tried or did customize it and I guess used it for a period of time. It was found in his warehouse. Both things contributed to it never being found until he passed away.
