Selling my 2001 F150 Crew Cab Price?
I'm going to be retiring next year, and I no longer need a truck. I don't plan on hauling anything while retired. According to KBB with the options I entered, the selling to a private party is between $3165 - $6154. With that in mind...
Truck as 155k on the clock. Ford F150 Crew Cab Color: black outside/beige inside Dash cover is pristine - has a cover since I got it back in 2002. Does not leak oil or burn oil I get about 14 MPG city, and 19 MPG highway Has the small 4.6 V8 I have all the maintenance records since 2002 when I bought it used. I had the truck repainted back in 2015. It's never been in an accident It has a roll and lock cover that was installed early this year (previously it had a camper shell then a lid). All seats are in good condition - no rips etc. Carpet is a little worn where the driver would rest his right foot. Has a back split window in the middle. Minor items: 1) The driver side lock does not go all the way up using the FOB. I have to use the key to finish opening up the door. This happens about 9 out of 10 times 2) The passenger window is intermittent. It will work for a while, then quits working. 3) The odometer will go black after driving for a while then parking it. When you get in and restart, it comes back to life after about 2-3 minutes. Not sure what I should ask for it. Below is a picture back in 2015: Since I'm retiring, I don't need 3 cars. The other I'm selling is a 2005 Honda Accord which is already sold. Once these 2 cars are gone, I'm currently looking at a used Ford Edge or Subaru Outback as a replacement. |

I really don't know, but you live in an area with a strong truck market.

anytime I see these requests, I immediately go to eBay motors and advance search for "sold" listings.

Serious answer, for a change.........
You can shit-can the "book values" for a rig that age. There are so many variables in an 18+ year old vehicle. Some will be worth scrap value and some that are ultra low mileage garaged ones that look like new that will put the book value to shame. My advice is to look at similar trucks on CL (just the ads, not in person) and go with what your gut tells you the ask should be. If it is too high only the scammers and low ballers will call. You can then lower it until your buyer comes along. One thing I always recommend to friends who sell on CL is if the right buyer is in your driveway with cash in hand and you can live with the deal, take their money. Don't let a few hundred bucks stand in the way. |

IF that 4.8 engine is at all related to the 5.4 engine, and with 150k on the clock the interior is probably all broken up ......
we had one like it, paid 2.4k and it was JUNK, got burnt but BAD on the use of it for only 3 years..... |
