yesterday my wife called me at 8 am ......
to let me know the washer was "puking" water all over the floor and it was leaking into the basement. She did turn off the water before calling. I married the farmer's daughter, she "has a clue"
Since the washer was about 10 years old, we agreed to get get a new one. She went to our local home store and got a good deal on a new one. I came home from work early , pulled the old one out and loaded it on the trailer. Went to the store, they took the old one and put the new one on the trailer. Hooked it up with brand new hoses and we have clean clothes again Here's our new $600 GE washer. Yes a top load with a real agitator |

Fancy. I'm partial to top loaders as well, with real knobs to turn vs. an electronic board to go bad.My Whirlpool set is going to be 20 in a few months.
Where was this one made? |

A new one? I am sorely disappointed. You should have machined her a new one out of 316 billet stainless, with a 100 hp, 3 phase electric motor. Just throwing that out there! I'm sure she is happy with that one though. Gone are the days that washing machines outlived us.

I have that same washer Jeff, no complaints with it. Had it about 3 or 4 years.

I've been dealing with this store for close to 30 years. They treat everyone right and only carry good quality ( and up to top shelf ) appliances. Gone are days of the machines of our grandparents that would last decades with minor repairs. It was suggested to go one step up and get what you need. The extra cost now is just bells and whistles instead of higher quality components like days gone past. |

Mary takes care of washing the clothes. I did something ( I forget exactly ) helping by doing wash at the other house( we moved here in '03) and I'm "not allowed" to do wash anymore. |

Same here! Yep, I've had the "I was only trying to help" moment myself I was only allowed to do my own after. I have two modes, lights or darks, then straight to the dryer. If it doesn't survive, I don't need it. |
