I think I found a good "sleeper" for an everyday driver. From what I have learned about these Pontiac GTO's is that they stuck unmodified Corvette engines in them with the same power output as in the Corvette's of that year.

Nice to be prepared. I won't take a trip with somebody as soon as I find out they don't have a spare tire. These are the same people that won't throw a gallon of water in their car and cross the Mojave in summer with just the thought of: "I'll just call AAA".

I would have driven on the bent rim. BTW, there are places that might be able to bend it round again- I've seen some amazing wheel repairs before (for about $100).

as far as the rim...when straightened, are they as strong as before or another accident waiting to happen? I wouldn't want to take Pete's thousand mile jaunts on a suspect rim.

When we went to Dayton to the air force museum, there was literally nothing to see in Ohio. Just endless road, grass and trees. Total bore hole.

This is crazy- I have enjoyed the show in the past, but why did they build a Taj Mahal like this? 5 years from now it will be a vacant castle when the show is a distant memory.

Pete, I've really enjoyed getting the opportunity to meet you and I know how hard it is to make time when traveling. I've been through the El Paso area several times on my way to/from Tucson and wanted to try to meet up with Friz. Timing is the worst enemy. It looks like you had another great trip. I don't even watch the travel channel any more.
