Default So the dumbass of the day award goes to.....
Me.

I had gone into a convenience store/gas station to get a drink this afternoon. When I came to leave a long bed crew cab truck was parked next to me at an awkward angle. So I back out, watching this truck and behind me of course. I should have been looking to the left as I backed into a concrete bollard that was just shorter than what my peripheral vision could see. Caved in the drivers door of the yukon. Made some calls and can get a new door shell for $100 and have a paint and body guy spray it for $125. I'll swap it out myself and fix it for less than the deductible and not have it on the insurance. I'll post a pic tomorrow.

Backed into a light pole with a Sienna in December. 4 acre lot, almost completely empty. Just the Sienna and the light pole...

To add insult to injury, my boss said "so you forgot to use the backup camera?"

I have all of you beat hands down for dumbassery. We were mowing a pipeline easement out in the country, and were installing pipeline marker signs in an area we had just mowed. We had just put one in (metal pole), and I backed over it less than 5 minutes later. D'oh. Thankfully the only damage was to the pole.....and my pride.

I've done the same thing in my 4x4 pickup...any vehicle that's a little bit higher than a car can't see those stupid bollards.
They should have a flag on top of them or some kind of marker just for that reason.

Similar story to the OP, except I took out a gas pump at a Shell station. I knew that I'd hit something when the glass panels on the pump popped out and hit the ground. This was around 1977, or so...

While plowing yesterday, I managed to back into a snowbank, which ended up tearing the exhaust off my truck. The brand new exhaust that was installed about a year ago.
