Default Pink

Picked up a $25 polymer 80 percent upper at the last show. Borrowed some tooling and talent... here's my latest lower.

Looks good but not to keen on the color. Will it accept paint / dye?

Isn't that a lower?

It's pink all right.
The perfect weapon for breast cancer awareness month.

Yes. I suspect it was so inexpensive because of the color. I like Lauer Duracoat in "Parker" which looks like dark gray Parkerizing, also their take on bluing which looks quite nice if you can apply it smooth with no "FLA"... fat lady's ass AKA orange peel. Still cannot beat a $25 all in ready to build lower!

I used to shoot with a couple of local brothers at the gun club. Steve would show up at the shoots with two sons and his daughter. The daughter was 13 and shot extremely well. ( nice girl too )

One week when they showed up for the NRA High Power Shoot, she had "Hello Kitty" stickers plastered all over her AR-15.

I asked her about the stickers and with a sly grin she said " It's the only way to keep my brothers from shooting my rifle"

[ Isn't that a lower? [/QUOTE]

It is now. It was considered an 80 percent, non weapon, no paperwork involved unfinished lower because the area where the fire control group should go was non-existent: IE solid plastic, no holes or cavities. It came with a set of decals which accurately located the position of the FCG holes and the outline of the void the FCG goes in to. To complete simply drill the required pin holes and mill the cavity for the hammer/ sear assy and the trigger. Fitting an upper may require a bit of hand fitting to ensure an interference free assembly. No form 4, no tax, no NCIS check, no sweat.

On my fifth or sixth reading I see what you were getting at, and yes.

Jeff... you can do one as well if you don't mind becoming a felon... the unmolested part is just a chunk of plastic but when finished magically morphs into one of those evil assault weapon thingys because it has (GASP) a pistol grip. Not NY compliant I am pretty sure.
I did mine on a tabletop drill press using a machinist's vise and a lot of gritted teeth. I would also become a criminal if I helped you complete one... having done one for me, completing a second one for you would classify me as a manufacturer... big no no.

A citizen is allowed to make one copy of a legal firearm for themselves. Mark is correct in stating that if he made / gave one to you, he would be considered a manufacturer and a whole lot of different rules and licensing requirements come into play.

I didn't ask him to make me one, nor did I intimate it.

But wanted to be clear. Check out your state laws on what is allowed. A simple jig ( which can be resold when your done with it ) and a decent quality drill press would work.

Maybe President Trump will help get your state's repressive gun laws repealed so you can own the same firearms as neighboring states.

Meh, he's got bigger fish to fry.
It would be nice though.
