Having issues clearing an LTPS...
My wife's 03 vert just woke up from a 6 month nap in my garage. Front right was down to 17lbs and the sensor was bitching about it. Filled all the tires and took it for a quick drive. Drove a bit in reverse too as I remember that helped clear it.
It is still bitching about having 17lbs in the front right which is wrong. Thoughts? |

FR is usually the slowest to update, it's located furthest from the receiver.
I wouldn't worry about it just yet. Being an 03, it will eventually update even when the car is off and not moving. (obviously, it wasn't at 17psi when you parked it right?). Driving will usually produce a quicker update, but I've found it can sometimes take many miles before it happens. Also, being that the car is 9 years old, if you've never replaced them before, your sensor batteries are near or at the end of their life cycle which may also cause slow response. |

LTPS is a classic example of what I would spend way TOOOOO much time cussing and bitching while I disconnected that shit from MY car.....

Use an old speaker magnet to reset 'em.

I thought I remembered you had to drive it like 15 minutes to get them to positively reset.

At least you can still get the batteries. No such look for my venerable '92 coupe.

My last concern would be the TPMS. With only 17lbs i would think the tire may be flat spotted after sitting so long.

OD, I park my T-Bucket over a section of old carpet I ripped out of the house. Since the rear tires only get 24psi, this helps with the flat spots. If I park it on bare concrete for a while, I notice the flat spots until the tires get warmed up after a couple miles of driving.

I'm getting new tires for my '02 convertible in a couple of weeks and I'm going to make sure they change the batteries. Currently I'm still running the original tires.
A friend of mine is the manager of a nice new tire shop and he's working on his supplier to get some $$$ off the tires. He told them I've been shopping around and found a place that will sell me the same tires for $220 less than what they are quoting for his store. I said "Damn, I didn't want you to do that, I'm OK with the price." He said suck it up, I'm going to get you a deal. |
