Default FRC Joe's underhood thread

In Nov of 08 I had my tranny lock itself into 4th gear at a track rental. I suppose pushing twice the stock power through it had something to do with it. While the driveline was out for that repair I thought I'd take the opportunity to clean up a few items under the hood and fix some things that I wasnt 100% happy with from my blower install. A combination of scope creep, fluctuating interest and poverty has stretched the project out to 14 mos. and counting, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! Here's a few pics of the progress.

Relocated
Coils into fenderwells w/ custom brackets and wire looms

Evap Solenoid to firewall
Catch Can to front of radiator

Replaced

Rear Main Seal
PS Pulley with LS2 steel
Valve covers
Coolant Hoses (w/Black Silicone)
Exhaust bolts with ARP studs
Ignition Wires with Accell Extreme 9000 Ceramics

Revised

Air Inlet Tube from IC to TB

PCV system

EVAP system

Top of A&A radiator to allow bolting on of top cover

Re-Routed or Hidden
Headlight wiring
top AC line
Alky Line
EVAP wiring
Coil Harnesses
TB, MAF and TPS wiring
IAT wiring

That is some nice looking work, very professional. Looks like you're quite adept at polishing as well.

Thanks! Yeah I spent many hours this summer with the 2000 and some soapy water.

Also of note, The inky black intake manifold and blower inlet piece were painted by the man himself, GBVette. Laying down flawless black paint is practically a reflexive reaction for him now!

Attention to detail is astounding. You could make these into a few various kits and sell them for sure.

Here's the evap solenoid mounted on the firewall. This was difficult to photograph. The solenoid is mounted vertically and the curvy plastic hose comes out of the bottom and back up to the re-positioned hard line. The test port is accessible, and it shouldnt pick up any header heat. Hopefully I wont get any crap about moving it at inspection time.

Scope creep = "well if I'm going to have to do x, then I might as well do y. Oh... well if I have to do x and y, then I should go ahead and do z." And so on and so forth It's what alwasy happens to me on my projects.

I misplaced all of that stuff a while ago. The only thing they looked for at inspection time was the air pump. I have that (non-functional)

Not a sniffer test... they plug in the OBDII port though and most shops will look for things like headers w/o cats.

Oh yeah! I did contracting stints at GE Appliance and GE Industrial Drive Systems in the mid and late 90s when that was coming into vogue.
