Default Kansas

I'm designing an addition for a member of the band Kansas, and met him and his wife today. He's 72 and they still tour. Has a wall covered with platinum records and guitars. Nice guy, very unassuming, lives very modest. Gorgeous house but smaller than mine. Drives an old Toyota SUV.

Kansas, back in the '70's, IMO, was about as boring as driving through Kansas. Boston the same deal. A few good songs, but mostly blah. That said, I have respect for these guys who continue to practice their trade and entertain fans. It's a grind.
I've met a few musicians over time, and most were very down to earth.

I saw them at the Des Moines State Fairgrounds back in the 70's. A major storm was headed in just as they started "dust in the Wind" we almost had a tornado, started to rain, high winds, and they played through it, cool.

My three daughters, nieces and nephews all know the words to Kansas hits, that band has staying power.

Always confused them with Boston, both should have picked a name other than their towns--JFWY.

First album was great! After that they kinda went mainstream and I'd agree with you.

Just watched the '94 Woodstock Reunion concert on youtube with Traffic playing an hour and 15 minute set and was blown away. Not Kansas related, but music, so sort of on topic.
If you like Traffic or Steve Winwood, it's a hell of a concert. Huge sea of people dancing and partying and no fat people or tattoos...or cell phones being held up in prayer. How things have changed.

I feel that the 70's was a golden age for music. That said, I came of age in the 50's and 60's. Grew up though rock and roll and the British invasion.
and liked them. Songs of the 70's are more meaningful.

I watched a special a while back about the creation of Boston's first album and their ultimately getting signed to a record deal. It is an impressive story even for a non-fan.

I used to work with a guy that was in on some of the production of their earlier records. His name was Brad Aaron, drop that name and see if he remembers. I always wondered what happened to that guy, he was a character.
