Like your stories of working in LA with numerous gay people, I have no problem in NYC, DC, or here with them.
How do they really affect the haters?
Did something bad happen to them that had to do with a gay person or is it just ingrained in them to hate for no reason ?

My approach is very very simple. I really don't give the slightest crap if someone is gay.

What I DO have a problem with is you expecting me to applaud you, tell you how brave you are, and celebrate you for it.

You want to be treated just like everybody else? Great. You want me to treat you like you are special because of who you want to screw? Piss off. The problem for those that simply want to live their lives is that a HUGE number don't want equality as they claim. They want to be celebrated. Nope. Not happening.

While it is true that I have lots of experience working in the gay community, I suppose that should probably clarify my stance.

I am not, nor have I ever been "in support" of homosexuality. My personal opinion is that it isn't right and goes against the laws of nature. The laws of nature work for me. If asked, I wouldn't encourage that kind of activity or behavior with anyone...especially my children. Can I stop them? Nope. In fact, I count a gay couple among my closest of friends. But don't expect my unconditional thumbs-up either.

These are my PERSONAL opinions and choices, and I'm not going to go out and insult or belittle anyone for theirs. It would be like me saying to folks on this forum that firearms are bad and if they don't agree with me then they should just "get over it." That's not my right or place to say. But no one gets to tell me to "get over it" because there's nothing to get over. I will take these feelings to the grave with me and if someone else wants to think of me as narrow-minded, so be it. No one gets to set my personal agenda...as distasteful as they may find it. Unfortunately, many in the gay community feel that being gay is now as much a cause celebre as it is a life choice.

And I know what's coming: "Wellllll....you'd love it if two women were making out!" Not in public I wouldn't. And one shouldn't confuse approval of a short term sexual turn-on with that of a long-term lifestyle.

I don't really care what people do on their own time or what type of casing they use to stuff their sausage, as long as it doesn't interfere with my life in such a way that I think is intrusive. Homosexuality is a part of the world and always has been...albeit a small part (most data points to the fact that around 3.5% of the population are actually what could be considered gay).

If you want a same sex marriage, then by all means have one. But don't go around making out with your partner on the courthouse steps so you can get a photo-op on the news or to draw attention to yourselves. It's fairly disgusting and I don't like it when hetero couples do it either. And don't expect people to be automatically accepting of your chosen way of life simply because you feel it gives you a certain cachet or makes you so much more avant-garde than your hetero neighbor.

there are all manner of groups that can claim some discrimination or oppression. but it seems that the current thing is to join some group that is currently "really" oppressed, claim oppression, and then seek some type of social or financial or political favored status above everyone else.

the present favored groups appear to include:

gays
females
blacks
muslims
poor (they are always on the list)

sorry, the Irish fell off that list some time ago.

so if you can be one or more of those, you get to claim "super victim" status and thus ask for extra favors from everyone else.

look, i don't make the rules, but i do pay attention.

so if you are a white, male, Christian....well, even though you would be dead in a matter of an hour in the hands of some muslims, you are considered to be "privileged" and thus SOL.

I say same sex marriage should be legal anywhere. I'd enjoy seeing plenty of gay/lesbian couple get a divorce, the "Ex" taking half the others shit, and laughing about it....just like hetero couples. Equal opportunity and all that.

My best friend is a prime example. Non stop gay jokes and slurs. Funny about his family though. I'd swear his father was gay, but married, because of the stigma attached with being gay.
