We are getting the same alerts here in Jax and at the college where i work. Hopefully they do an early release at the schools, colleges, and wot not so those of us who have to cross the bridges can do it before the high winds hit.....and start day drinking close to home.

A question since you've lived here a while: When there's a hurricane anywhere near here they close both bridges onto the island (not sure about all the bridges in Jax) if the wind hits 38 mph (strange number...), yet they don't close them if the wind hits 50 mph from a thunderstorm. WTF?

You are confusing gusts with steady wind speeds. 38mph will knock over a semi especially on the Buckman and Mathews. As you know, most people diving here are ****ing idiots. Well, pretty much everyone who's not me. High winds make for even worse traffic and we all know the traffic sucks the wanky very much bad here on a calm day with lots of sunshine.

Well, yeah, lots more idiot drivers here than where we moved from. We stayed for Dorian, and I don't recall "steady" winds then either, they were variable and gusty, but once they measured a gust over 38 they closed the bridges.

Understatement. FL drivers are either crazy fast or DWE (Driving while elderly).

Saw a black pickup fly past slower traffic, maybe 65 MPH, he was going easily 85, never touched his brakes and passed on the outside median. See stuff like that all the time in FL. Bad drivers everywhere, but they abound in FL.

Yup. I prefer aggressive drivers over the DWE or DWU (Driving While Unconscious) drivers any day. WAY too many slow cars in the left lane of the interstates here who refuse to move over, and most of those have out-of-state license plates.
