Default Canadian Barners: Is this real? If so, how do Canadians survive?

I'd expect prices to be higher in Canada, especially for fruits and vegetables that have to be shipped long distances, but damn, the meat prices. Damn, just damn.

Not sure on meat and produce but our items (salad dressing and Cheese Sticks) sell for about 10% more than US prices when adjust for $ conversion. That's about right given added shipping costs.

Ho le crap.
That = $15.90/lb for a Costco roast.

I can purchase a 1/4 beef cow finish grazed on alfalfa/corn locally for under $1600 butchered...and its 100x better overall.
Meat, produce etc that's grown locally is super cheap from the local grocery store here. Compared to buying from national chains it's a joke on the overpaying public.

I prefer Bison honesty. Leaner, better quality and richer taste.

The fat guy from Canaduh that lifts heavy chit must have one hell of a monthly food budget.

I haven't been to Costco for a couple years now.
I used to go 3x a year and spend $600-700 each trip to fill the freezer.
I would buy a Rib primal for $270 and dry age it and cut it into steaks.
I also started to buy a 50kg box of chuck roast for about $200 and portion it for stews and make ground.
Prime Beef/steak cuts have gone crazy.

I split a half cow with my kid a few times per year and it doesn't come close to half of what you're paying. It is a lot better than what is sold in stores. Price has gone up recently but that's not a significant consideration when you're getting a quarter of a cow for the price of two Canadian roasts.

Comparing a private sale to store bought isn't a fair comparison.
I can buy locally also from $4-6lb on 1/4 or 1/2 cow.

1/4 beef is only 100-150lbs on the high end so it's $11lb on the low end and $16 on the high end. That's extemely high and more than I'd pay of $4-6lb wrapped.

Meat would be cheaper if they didn't have to transport it on dog sleds. Meathead told me that.

Transport it?

I thought they just went outside and shot a moose, bear, or seal, pig out, then head for the gay bar.
