Default How is it possible that

you do not need to show photo I.D. to vote
And why don't they start doing it?

[libtard] Requiring photo ID to vote is racist. [/libtard]

Voter ID is required in my State, and it was held up in Court. You need a photo ID to buy alcohol/cigarettes, open a bank account, apply for food stamps, apply for Social Security/Welfare, get a job, rent/buy a house, apply for a mortgage, drive/buy/rent a car, get on an airplane, get married, buy a gun, rent a hotel room, get a hunting/fishing license, visit a casino, hold a rally/protest, donate blood, buy an "M" rated video game, and others. Some are privileges, some a rights...just like voting.

The real reason, of course, is that it would make it harder for Democrats to rig elections.

i made a point of taking my voter registration card out of my wallet before we walked in. first to make sure i had the right precinct (the gym hosts several precincts), and second, to visibly prove i had the right to vote.

Texas does require and ID, though the process to check it looked a little lax to me.

Interestingly, a photo ID is required to vote in Mexico. Hmmmm.

Here in Missouri we just passed an amendment to our state constitution to make it an absolute requirement that you have proof of citizenship and photo ID to vote here. The citizenship provision gets you on the rolls. Once on, you only have to show photo ID.

Also the reason this sort of baloney exists is because Obama's DoJ has filed numerous lawsuits against states trying to implement such photo ID laws. Those all go away very shortly.

Here they scan the barcode on the back of your DL and matches you right up to your registration. Paper ballot handed to you, then you slide it into the vote counting machine and if it reads your ballot OK you get an acknowledgement. About as secure as I can hope for I guess.

With the technology we have today I think they should require a thumbprint. It could also be used on mail-in ballots, which I believe is where most of the fraud happens anyway. It's pretty hard to get a fingerprint off of someone who's dead and buried.

ID's can always be faked. So can signatures. Thumbprints can't.

I'm thinking a swipe of a drivers license or town or MV issued ID card allows a person to operate the machine to vote might be most secure.

Wish it were that sophisticated here. Our voters registration is no more than a postcard with basic information. No ties to DL info that I know of. It was about like the TSA guy looking at your boarding pass and seeing if the name matches your license. At least they match the registration card to the hardcopy of the voters registration log.

Oh, they still give you a voter registration card that you can show but that card is only issued after you've already gotten all verified. But if you use it you also need photo ID or some other combination of documents (pay stubs, whatever) and it varies by precincts probably. Not anymore. We cleaned it up! Really only needed it for the three liberal areas here in Missouri (KC, Columbia, St. Louis)

Same process here in Virginia. However, since our Demoncratic Governor just finished restoring the voting privileges of 60,000 felons (including those still in jail) I wonder how they had the requisite photo ID.
