Never shot one. There was simply no good reason I could imagine to suffer shitty ergonomics with a handgun. Plenty of other guns available without that problem.
The Ruger P85 for example had ergonomics to die for. It got bonus points for being kaboom-proof with handloads. Was able to duplicate 357 magnum velocities with my 9mm. I once emptied the entire magazine into a pie plate at 50 yards, fast fire in the dark. That impressed me all to hell |

I've always been partial to these. This is what a handgun is SUPPOSED to look like. This, the 1911, Berretta 92 models, the Browning High Powers.....these just feel the way they're supposed to. Something about mostly plastic just doesn't feel right, pun intended.

Every plastic framed semi-auto I've ever shot is subject to malfunctioning because the frame recoils with the slide if you don't back it up with stiff resistance. I've determined the cause is the frame not being heavy enough to resist the spring force exerted by the slide during operation. Locking your wrist and elbow is the only way the gun will reliably operate, and this is pure shit for accurate shooting. The most accurate shooting possible is to be completely relaxed, elbows slightly bent, and let the gun kick back freely without resistance. Why are people so afraid of handgun recoil? There's no need to be. I've fired 44 magnum proof loads without a problem. A proof load is basically double the maximum spec working load, and even those have always stopped before hitting me in the head due to nothing more than the weight of my arms (just have an ambulance on stand-by if you try that one handed ). |

I'm not an expert on pistols by any means, but I really like my G27, even if they don't make it anymore.

There was a time that I thought owning one as an accessory to my tackle box sounded like a good idea. Having a cheap gun that doesn't require protection from the elements could easily outweigh having perfect aim. It's not likely anything would try to ambush me from across the river and accuracy just isn't a concern at bad breath distances.

I like the large capacity mags. You get 15 + 1 in 10mm and 13 + 1 in .45 acp.
What's not to like? |

There is, was, and never will be anything wrong with Glocks. They're like the AR of the pistol world. If you can't get a Glock to perform just as good (or better) than any other handgun you've ever fired, then it's YOUR fault, not the guns. They're simple, cheap, and reliable. After several THOUSAND rounds from each of my Glocks, I have yet to experience a firearm induced stoppage or malfunction.
You designed a legend Sir. Rest in peace. |

Right, because what gun hasn't received bad press for exploding during normal operation often enough to have a new word invented for the phenomenon.
Oh well, as long as you're happy, that's the important thing |

Please don't take what I say as an attack on your opinion...I realize Glocks aren't for everyone, and that's okay. It just rubs me the wrong way when someone faults a gun for "issues" that could have been caused by any number of other issues, especially when those issues haven't been a thing for several decades. |

Nothing wrong with a bit of back and forth conversation
As I recall Glock 40 was responsible for most of the Kaboom issue and that wasn't introduced until 1990 (per wiki). IMO the gun wasn't totally to blame, the main culprit was case dimension. Wall thickness near the rim being too thin for the increased pressure of shortening the 45acp. Glock made a variety of calibers all barreled the same way and I don't recall any kaboom hubbub prior to this. Did hear some noise about an unsupported chamber. Notched to facilitate feeding maybe? Not sure, I've a tendency to not remember things which don't directly affect me |

Oops I was thing about the 45gap. That's hilarious. Forgot the gap even existed. Don't hear much about it anymore. They still make it?

On a side note I just found out the Glock will supposedly shoot toward a natural point of aim if you just forget everything you ever learned about how to shoot a pistol and don't care about precision shooting. There's some real funny videos on how to do this. The one I watched tells people how to mark up the back of their hand with a Sharpie

I want apologize for hijacking the thread. That's not generally like me.
Gaston Glock was probably a fine individual who made a solid contribution to society. His passing was not something that should have been overlooked by rehashing old squabbles. |
