As far as I know, I am not an "expert" on anything. But I do know how the starter on my Corvette works. You, obviously, don't.

Projection at its finest. Do you still think the Port side of a boat is always on the left?

Not at all, just poking the bears.

I think it's funny how they have all learned the "UD tactics". I'm stating facts, facts that they don't like, so they have done TWO things:

1. Claimed I'm making a "semantic argument" simply because they want to change the established definitions of words to make themselves look not wrong, AND:
2. Accused me of wanting to **** another man in the ass.

You really thought I was taking THAT seriously?

Ok, I'll revisit. Why not?

A solenoid switch is an electrical switch that is often used where a high current circuit, such as a starter motor circuit, is brought into operation by a low current switch. When the key switch is turned to Start and the gearshift is in neutral, the circuit between the battery and the solenoid switch is complete.

I already gave you the answer in the other thread, but you had to read the type in the white font. Here is a more complete technical explanation:

The name of the electrical device you are searching for is a "relay". Your solenoid is an electromagnet that also has a relay on it. A relay is somewhat similar to a switch, but they are different. For example, in an early C3, when you move the Blower Motor SWITCH to the highest setting, it activates a relay that sends more amperage to the blower motor to increase its speed. It is not a "second switch", it is a relay in the circuit because the GM engineers didn't want that much amperage passing through the dash for safety reasons.

Similarly, when you activate your ignition switch to start the car, you want 100% of the amperage of the battery available to your starter motor to maximize your chances of getting the car started on a frigid morning. It would be a bad idea to have the ignition switch in your hand running that much amperage through it, because if the switch shorted, you would get one hell of a shock that could potentially be fatal. So, for safety reasons, cars with electric starting motors have used a relay at the solenoid for many decades.

Just because "some dude" on Wikipedia doesn't know the difference between a relay and a switch does not mean I am making a "semantic argument", nor does it mean I want to **** another man in the ass.
