You may need to get Fred some baby food or soft food, if he can't chew.

I give him a can of wet food every day, but he figured out the chewing part years ago: Just swallow the Meow Mix. sirus.

I think that everyone here is inherently good. Our pets are family. We give our schnauzer a pill in the morning, an insulin shot twice a day, and feed him medicated food. It costs a small fortune, but we love bandit. He was close to deaths doorstep twice, but he is back to his lovable self. He may be blind, but he's still part of the family...

Good on ya Spence....

It's that damned Barbie thing that has me worried though....

I hope Fred has a few more of his 9 lives left.

Is that Annie in the meow mix?

Good job, Spence.

My cat Rexx was 14 when he disappeared. He was in excellent health, but he wasn't as quick as he used to be. He was an awesome cat, and we still miss him. He's been gone for 2 1/2 years.

Yep, pets are parts of our families...and they deserve the same care and affection. My daughter's "feist dog" had bad knees, and the operation cost $1200 to fix them. Did I hesitate about the cost? Of course not. I couldn't live with myself otherwise.

And I agree with you about peeps here being good...especially about animals and specifically their pets. Not many pets asked to be born into this world. But once they're here it is our duty to take care of them as best we can. [And that includes Barbies....]

No, that's Jasper (kinda like Casper the Ghost but black) in the Meow Mix. Isn't that shiny fur something? They're all healthy as can be.

Thank you! I'm sorry to hear about Rexx. He would be happy that you still miss him after all these years.

When we had Rosie, she was part of our family. Not fond of dogs and fur? Guess we won't be seeing you for dinner.

We have a cat that is nearly 16 and a dog that is 14.

The cat's behavior has been pretty much the same for the last 10+ years. No changes. He's an asshole that doesn't even know he's a cat 95% of the time. The other 5% he wants food.

The dog is arthritic and has gone all but deaf.

The cat was friendly until we got the dog. Not quite normal, but friendly. I wonder if he's just holding on to outlive the dog so he can be friendly again...

You can learn a lot about someone by observing how they treat those who can't care for themselves.

When my wife and I met she had a cat who went missing for 6 months. A neighbor alerted her to a cat which looked like hers but was pretty mangled up. The vet had to cut half her tail off and patch her up. She looked like a fan blade from a car had caught her.
She was always a closet or under the bed cat until we moved in together. She found a new life and lived until she was 19 years old. I remember when she used to trap snakes and mice and in the senior years reverted to pouncing on worms in the driveway.

Good on you for taking great care of Fred. A month ago we had one of our dogs get his ACL operated on. This was his second one, the other joint the last time.

Good luck to Fred at the Vets Monday.
