I'd have to agree with OP's years, although one could stretch it to 1971.

both.

some parts of the build require hand drive nails. Including 20D galv. commons...and 4d finish nails. Quality carpentry still requires hand work...there is a place for pneumatics...like nailing off plywood sheathing...

And there lies the problem...most today think everything can be built with pneumatics...and most of the younger guys don't, and never will...have the carpentry skills to deliver the product I deliver. Fact.

although your post assumes the classic cars were built by hand w/o robotics and other machinery. which they were not.

No, my point is that advances in technology have allowed us to do things today that are quicker easier and more comfortable that we could 30 years ago - whether that is decking a roof with a nail gun or stopping a car via ABS. Building the car with robots doesn't have anything to do with it.

It doesn't make us a ***** to do things better and easier - it makes us smarter, safer and more productive.

btw Bucky...

my "pussification" comment was aimed at the government intrusion...not the manufacturing or the end users.

I love the classics and the new(performance). What I don't like are folks that always use the climate control and never put down the window. Great for saving on window regulators but strange to me.

Maybe those 74, 75 and 76 Vettes and mustangs.

In my lifetime, for styling, no.

The last 3 years hands down are the best for technology, etc. but most of the muscle cars are just full of plastic and cheap stuff. They all, (to me) look like heavy boats, ie: the Challenger, Mustang, anc to a degree the camaro. Fast ? yep, reliable of course.

Character? hardly.

Owned a '68 427 Chevelle Malibu and a '69 RS Z/28 so,yes those were good years.

But, I also thought '70 was a peak year, always wanted a '70 LS6 454 Chevelle 4-spd and a RS LT1 Z/28.

Is this a serious post?

I follow your point ( I guess), but I'm 49 so I drove some of that stuff. All I remember is that they were pretty crappy compared to anything we drive today. Kinda cool to look at, but so is a stripper.

Don't tell me your getting all nostalgic and everything.

Of course they rode like crap. vs. todays new ones looking like crap. Repod a late model Mustang and the "spinners" on the wheel covers were plastic.

Repod a C6 and the interior was garbage.

True but most of the 65's styling went into 67.

If anything I would go to 70.
