Default Is there any arguement that the 3 best years for cars

in succession was 1967>1969?

Between the last of the midyears, the Mustangs, the Camaros, the Mopars, and really cant think of anything close.

Maybe those 74, 75 and 76 Vettes and mustangs.

Well, the 68 Vette was a complete piece of shit.

I'd vote for the last three years.

The current cars coming out of Detroit & from across the pond are really quite nice.

Not to mention the C6 ZR1, Z06 & GS, are incredible bang for your buck.

I would have to agree with you there. I was a serious street racer in the mid 60s to early 70s and had a couple nice cars and ran both on the street and strip against anything that was out there. I also worked PT at my buddy’s speed shop/garage and worked on and/or drove all available.

My favorite car of that era was my highly modded 67 dodge RT 440 vert. Strong on the strip and quite quick on the street. In that era the cops were not that aggressive about speeding and acceleration runs as they are today. Central ave in Albany NY and the then new arterial saw plenty of runs and money change hands!

It was a good time to be a car guy.

As far as performance goes, there are a lot of great years.

IMHO it's hard to beat the automotive styling of 1955, 1956 and 1957.

If $'s were no object, I always thought it would be cool to do a 1967 car museum. Every manufacture really had some awesome styling going on. Having said that I do believe as far as handling and driving pleasure the last 3 years the U.S car makers are building the best products we've seen in years. The new Camaro is one hot car.

Tough call, because I love the 67 GTO, but the E-body Mopars in 1970 were awesome.

67 -69...very good years for Detroit muscle.

before the .gov and their socialist nanny state agenda too over.

Thank Ralph Nader, political correctness and the rest of the American Commies for this.

January 1970 - Theres a fresh inch of snow on the ground as you go out to your six month old musclecar. it cranks for a bit and then fires because the carb is running a little lean and in the cold weather it takes a minute to get things to warm. You scrape the ice off the windows and settle into the crack of the frozen vinyl seat and slide an 8-track into the underdash player (because the car only came with an AM radio). Slide the heater control all the way to the red and flip the switch to defog to keep the windshield from fogging. Crunch the Rock Crusher into reverse and back out of the driveway and then try feather the clutch so you can get some grip on the icy street. At the end of the block you pump the brakes to slow the car and keep the tires from sliding on the snow.

January 2011 - Theres a fresh inch of snow on the ground so you punch the remote start on the fob and get another cup of coffee. Out in the drive the car fires off and the computer adjusts the EFI to find the best point to warm the engine. In the cabin. the programming kicks the heater and defrosters on to clear the windows. You fill your to-go cup of coffee and get into car which the climate control has warmed to a perfect 68 degrees. You adjust the heated seat to find the right warmth for your butt and flick the steering wheel controls to find your favorite tune on the iPod in the glovebox. You then slip the synchromesh into reverse as the the traction control eases the wheelspin and you glide down the block to where the ABS slows you to a easy stop and you have another sip of coffee. You check the traffic on the nav system and decide on the route to work that doesn't have a wreck and then have the bluetooth phone connect you to the office to see who is going to be late.

09,10 and 11 cars are faster, safer, stronger, handle better, have better fit and finish and more amenities.

But the old ones look cool.

Just like my first wife, cars from that era looked good, but had serious issues.

"Junk" would not be too far off as an apt description.

Clearly, someone hacked Repo's account...lol.

Memories make the heart grow fonder.

Tune-ups, ring jobs, crappy tires, rusting fenders, panel gaps you could put your fingers in; that was the norm in those days.

Great HP and not a damn thing else...

I'd have to agree with Bucky on this one. We're in the middle of a gigantic horsepower war with cars that get phenomenal mileage and are very safe. Styling is a matter of taste. Look at Aston stuff. Beautiful, IMHO. Same can be said of Audi, Ferrari, Porsche and even Cadillac. The Detroit stuff does a pretty good job of retro-cool.

Even little cars like the Evo and WRX are putting out insane amounts of HP.
