Sometimes, rumors of violence beget actual violence. Saturday's mass shooting at a Safeway on North Oracle Road in Tucson, which left Democratic Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in critical condition and at least nine others wounded, may well be one of those occasions.

It's impossible to know this early what the motivations for the attack were. Was the alleged shooter — who, according to the AP, has been identified as man in his 20s named Jared Loughner — angry about immigration? Or perhaps another hot-button issue? Last March, at the height of the health care reform battle, Giffords' office was vandalized. She mentioned in an MSNBC interview that a Sarah Palin mailer had depicted her district in the crosshair of a gun sight. "They've got to realize there are consequences to that," she said. "The rhetoric is incredibly heated." The corner next to her office had also become, she said, a popular spot for Tea Party protests.

Jane Fonda has blamed Saturday's tragic shooting spree in Tucson, Arizona, on former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, conservative talk show host Glenn Beck, and the Tea Party movement.

Obviously possessing no facts about the alleged shooter, the liberal actress and activist tweeted the following moments ago:

To be sure, the Left's predictable and groundless finger-pointing whenever these kinds of incidents happen in our nation is not at all surprising.
As Matt Lewis observed at Politics Daily, the Netroots are way ahead on this blame Palin meme.

Yet, from what we can glean concerning alleged shooter Jared Lee Loughner, he doesn't at all fit the right-wing mold.

A video that he posted at his YouTube channel features a flag burning, certainly not what one would expect from a conservative.

Loughner also listed his favorite books including "Mein Kampf" and "The Communist Manifesto."

Liberals love to claim Adolf Hitler and his National Socialist Party were right-wing.

However, as Hitler wanted total governmental control of industry and healthcare, his views were quite opposite of what conservatives in America currently stand for, especially Palin, Beck, and members of the Tea Party.

Of course, it is not all surprising liberal media members won't let such facts get in the way of their unfounded accusations.

After all, they never do.

One of the MSM talking heads was on last night and I heard her ask if the shot congreescritter had any enemies and the reply was YES THE WHOLE TEA PARTY. I came into the broadcast late and do not who the person was that was asked that question.

Hang on folk’s looks like it’s going to be a rough flight! A lot of people have enemies but that sounded like a very improper mudslinging political response. Schummer and the others are without a doubt going to make a very big gun control push out of this heinous action!

That’s something we have known for years, finely the left is catching on.

Do not misunderstand what I wrote, without a doubt that was a very nasty crime! The shooters in incidents like that should be executed fast without all the ACLU and wacky liberal judges making the process take decades!

I don't think Loughner wants to be executed right away ... he'll have to stop his appeal process like McVeigh who thought he was gonna be a great martyr of *American Revolution* history ... but found out the only aspiration he had was to meet the 72 virgins ..

Personally I like murderers to linger on death row for 20 years before exceution and I thnk they have the right to go out the way they want ... lethal injection or firing squad ...

At the moment of death the only thing they're *eyes-wide-awake* about is that death is *non-partisan* ...

The only difference in Gifford being shot and myself is she is a member of congress and her life is more important than any of us non elected officials. Seems that lots of killings go on in America everyday and this is sad. I feel for Gifford and wish a total recovery for her, not like my brother who was shot by a robber and not so lucky, it did not make national news, but with what happened to him is no different and no out cry for protection for our family over this.
