When I was younger
Like a BUNCH younger....(1981-1984) I raced Carts. Started on dirt and then went to Road racing on the Horstman Gold cup series. Went from Ohio to Ga. I was watching a segment on No reservations where Anthony drove a Kart in Macauo and it brought back memories. I ran Limited Modified and was in the top 5 in points for 3 years......I still have the helmet and the suit....Suits a little small now....

Late 80s I raced karts also. My former FIL was the kart owner, I raced for him. Medium and heavy stock Briggs. Did our own motor work and ran Laguna chassis.
My last year racing karts I also ran the KT-100 class ( 100 cc Yamaha engine ). Won my first race the first time in the kart Unfortunately my racing "career" ended when my marriage did. |

Raced Karts in the 70's.. Stock appearing, and Open light 100cc / 2 Cycle.
The engines that were bad fast back then were the Komet and BM. Lost of good times and memories with my father, and family. I remember one year we were at Barnsville Ga for the Winter Nationals, did you ever race at that track? Just wondered since it is in your neck of the woods. |

As a teenager I raced 100cc 2-stroke open class in Italy and was sponsored racing the air cooled shifties by the time I was 15. Man, what a blast! I wish I had the money right now to get back into it, but the hot rod needs a super charger first
Nice set up. I always like the tilotson carbs, but never raced with them on 4-strokes. Hell, I never raced the 4-stroke motors. |

If I remember right the guy who owned the track was named Wilson, maybe Dick? His son also ran the Stock appearing Jr class and If I remember right he won that year. Quite a character, I remember he got on the mic after someone crashed through some hay bales and made a rather "Non PC announcement" ? I do not remember a track or know of Adkins Ohio, but am from Ohio and raced Camden and Preble county fair grounds through out the summers as home tracks |

The BM engine I used back then was an Italian engine, also the Komet was. Both were very fast and well built even from the factory. We were lucky enough to have a great engine builder that knew what it took to make them really go. |
