Default Verizo Is No Longer Supporting E-Mail After May 3 ???

If your e-mail address ends in Verizon.net, did you get this e-mail today ?
If it is true, what total BS it is...
Verizon sucks if it is....

Effective May 03, 2017, we'll no longer provide verizon.net email service. Other than this change, your Verizon service(s) won't be affected.

We have two options for you to consider below. Please review both options and take action today to avoid losing access to your email.

Choosing an option is easy.

Click here to sign into your verizon.net email account.
Simply select Keep verizon.net email address or Try any other email provider to complete the setup.

Option 1. Keep your current email address with AOL Mail.

By choosing this option you will:

Keep your verizon.net email address
Migrate to AOL Mail
Retain email, contacts and calendar(s) automatically

Option 2. Try any other email provider.

By choosing this option, you will:

No longer be able to use your current verizon.net email address
Establish an account with a mail provider of your choosing like Outlook.com or Gmail
Manually move your email, contacts and calendar(s)

Looks like someone is getting a new email address. That does suck though.

OK, saw this before about it coming to an end in April and now as you claim in May. Have Verizon and it's email but I don't use it. I checked the Verizon email the time before and today.

Both times I get NOTHING to claim email is coming to an end.

same here. If a site requires me to register an email address that's the one they get. People I correspond with regularly get a different one

Oh, they're just not *hosting* the email anymore. They have an agreement with AOL to host their domain on their servers. So you'll have the same address if you want, it's just that AOL will be in control of the data instead of Verizon. That might matter to you. I'd rather have it hosted somewhere else because, seriously, AOL? But at any rate sounds like you need to do exactly nothing.

I had Verizon FioS, and never used their email. Two years ago they sold it to Frontier.

Well my e-mails are all switched over.
I just have to get used to the AOL format I guess.
A different app on my phone, but I'll get used to it.
Whatever......

Verizon purchased AOL in 2015, so all that's happening is they are consolidating overlapping sectors of the businesses.

Verizon is currently in the process of purchasing Yahoo as well. And once that acquisition is complete, their plan is to merge AOL and Yahoo into a new division called Oath.

You can move your verizon address over to the AOL server. I use Outlook to access my mail anyway so I just did that and don't expect any changes.

Everyone on verizon has to move it to aohell. The date to switch is different for some people, depending on when you get the offer to change/keep it. I did it a few weeks ago and stayed with ver.net.

I like AOL's e-mail format better than Verizon's format.

I don't know anyone that uses the cell providers email service as their main email address anyways. It would change as often as one changes cell providers.

Hearing this about Verizon doesn't surprise me; I imagine it's little used and not worth the hassle for them.

It was from my Verizon land line when e-mail was invented, not cell.
I've had it that long from them.
