Default C8 - A few things I don't like

Having to put the seat belt on, just to put in reverse, is a pain in the ass. I wear my seat belt everywhere. Making me put it on to back out of my garage to wash and wax it is a bit extreme.

I DO NOT like detailing this car.

I can do the C6Z, both wash and wax, in 1 hour flat. This thing took me 2.5 hours. A big part of that time is the water intrusion into the engine bay. Using the leaf blower, and then detailer to keep water spots from forming adds a lot of time. Also, while I love the looks of this car, it is SO MUCH busier, and thus much harder to wax.

Don’t you have staff for that?

I might wash Mrs. DAB’s new Subaru when it gets really dirty.

Is there a way to keep water out of the engine bay, perhaps a cover could be fabricated. If was metal it'd be easier. Just a thought as i have no idea what it looks like.

Get a Short seat belt extender and put it in the belt spot! That will disable the seat belt nanny. Unless the law has changed the company AKA dealer has to give it to you free. I have done this for many vehicles (Vettes and regular cars & trucks) over the last 20 years or so. You can then just hook up your seat belt to the extender for normal driving.

I'm a big guy so it works good for both not hooking up or safely hooking up!

Not really. It's open, like many other mid-engine exotics. The gap at the bottom of the glass is wide open, and the vents on either side of the glass are wide open. Water gets into the engine bay all day long.

As you can see, I have as yet to clean the underside of the glass.

I have those in my Tundra, since we drive around the track all of the time and don't want to listen to the beeps and crap. Only complaint I have about the brand we have is that it's hard to get the actual seat belt in and out of the latch. Very cumbersome, but will look into something like this.

Things that I like so far:
  • This thing is super comfy, and I fit perfectly. Shoulder room is massive. Headroom is ample.
  • GT2 seats are more than supportive. Lateral support is amazing. Feel like a wet noodle in the C6Z.
  • Fit and finish is incredible, and I personally like the styling
  • Looks. I fell in love with the mid-engine exotic look on day one
  • Transmission. While I have not stressed it yet, due to 500 mile break-in, I really like the DCT. It is so fast
  • Engine. LOVE the cold start, and like the transmission, I can't wait to uncork this thing after 500 miles
  • Paint - So far extremely pleased. I know some early cars had paint chipping around the headlights, mine's perfect. Small amount of orage peel around the license plate, but nothing extreme.
  • THE TOP COMES OFF. Although, I have yet to take it off. As the owner of 2 C6Z's, I REALLY miss taking the top off. We're coming into fall, pretty soon, that thing will come off and won't go back on for 6 months.
  • Forward visibility - always a plus in a mid-engine

Will provide further reviews when I get past the 500 break-in and can race it on September 18th. I'll be sure to buy a brand new, top of the line GoPro, and will have some cool racing videos.

I'm pretty confident with an orbital buffer but that car would make me exceedingly nervous with all those sharp edges.

Yes. You would burn the edges on this thing in a heartbeat.

Maybe "Things I like so far" should have been the title? Seems like the good by far outweighs the bad. Darn! I was hoping for a good deal.

Keep us posted.

Make sure you add the extra quart of transmission fluid as called for when racing it.
