Maybe this is a dumb question…but if he started over the tracks and there were no flashing lights or gates, how would he have known a train was near? Looks like he was in the middle of crossing when the signal just started coming down.

Is there some sort of route planning that is supposed to happen to make sure this doesn’t happen? To make sure he’s not crossing at a time when trains may be there? I’m assuming they have to have some sort of permits (or…???) when transporting something oversized like that?

What I don't understand is, why was the driver stopped on the crossing in the first place? It can't be because he couldn't move, because a few seconds after the gates came down, he started to move like he had a purpose.

I think the turn he was trying to execute was too tight and he was worried about taking out poles, buildings, or bystanders. At least until he waa properly motivated.
