I thought airplane bottles were just practical jokes? Wiped the dust off, says 750ml. That was my guess but I wanted to verify. And yeah, turned out after the fact not to be an optimal solution for celebrating. I can drink a whole bottle of anything else and not feel half as bad the next day

I can drink about 10 beers and have zero effect the next day. More than a couple ounces of scotch, and I'm feeling it in the morning. Basically when it comes to hard liquor, I'm a big pansy.

Or... prep a martini with Hendricks, very light on the vermouth. Stir and strain into a cold martini glass with a couple very thin slices of cucumber. Almost the same as with rocks... but better IMO.

Had an ad for this pop up on U-tube yesterday. It said something about being infused with roses and cucumbers

I like Hendricks with the cucumber slice, a natural pairing. Sapphire on the other hand, no way. It is awesome ice cold with a lemon rind twist. Don't even look at the vermouth!

I stir the gin and ice... ~45 seconds give or take. Before straining into the cold glass, I splash a little vermouth in the glass, swirl it around, then pour it out. Add a lemon twist.

I got some Dolin and some Noilly Pratt vermouth to compare with Martini Rossi. I experimented with different amounts of each with Botinist, Tanq, and Bombay Sapphire. The difference was interesting and I tried different amounts of vermouth - never more than half an ounce to a 3 oz pour. When the Noilly and Dolin were gone I just went back to Martini & Rossi and just a splash. I've heard a small spray bottle is a great way to add some vermouth. Just spray on top after straining.

The big thing with vermouth is it needs to be kept in the fridge once opened. It's really just fortified wine and doesn't keep well at room temps.

Just don't care for the taste of vermouth. I love the bright taste of the gin with the lemon twist, or the taste of the high end gins on their own. If I am going to modify the taste, I will go with olives with jalapenos or garlic. That is a whole different experience.

This might be the main reason I haven't learned to like Gin. Gin martinis are often served with olives.

When I make a Vodka Martini for wife and myself I add a tiny splash of olive juice and an even smaller amount of vermouth in with the Vodka and ice.....shake well and strain into glasses.....with three olives......I also make what I call a mootsatini using 3 mozzarella balls

A lemon twist really makes a difference - it's my favorite. I like olives too but sometimes just have them on the side instead of in the drink. Haven't tried garlic but jalapenos are a very nice change.
