Don't fall for the "Digital" antenna crap. Any UHF antenna will work.

Haven't seen a set of rabbit ears in about 5 decades. No idea if they still sell them or provide a way to attach to the back of a television. Lemme see...

About $20 -

How they're attached these days I've no idea. Used to be done with a pair of slotted screws on the back of the television. Maybe just a plug now?

I quit Direct TV about 3 months ago after they jacked up my service price 125% from what I was paying. Call them, and they tried to lower the price but it was not good enough like it was before, so I said termination is the only solution.

They still bug me every other week about doing another contract. **** them. I have a Samsung TV which Samsung also has LOTS of free channels, plus the ones I get now free using a digital antenna.

You just described XM radio. Yeah, for $ 60, maybe $ 100 a year, I'd be OK with it, but they'll jack that up to almost $ 300/year, unless you play the game of calling India, getting upset, then India transferring you to an American, who will renew your service for whatever you were paying previously, after some back and forth. I had XM for several years, but ended up dropping it. The hassle just wasn't worth it.

And I don't get it, really. if I was them, I'd rather just put someone like me on autopilot and collect their $ 100 a year in perpetuity. I cost them literally nothing, but one paper invoice and whatever it costs them to cash my check. Multiply me by millions or tens of millions more people similarly situated, that they lost as customers?

...

Works the same way for "free trial" offers. Instead of discontinuing the service you start receiving bills and cancelling is worse than a visit to the dentist

I found that it took less time to cancel XM when I started cussing and screaming after the first time I was transferred. No more getting the run around for this kid once I found that out.

I just signed up for my free year of Fox Nation. I think the next thing I will sign up for is Sling. They stream Fox News and Gutfeld which oddly enough, Fox Nation doesnt show. Sling is $40 per month, which is the most expensive one I have signed up for so far, but still almost $70 cheaper than Dish and no rain outs....

Can't you just replace the dish with an antenna and use the same coax feed to the TV's?

Assuming it's not buried the cable itself could probably act as an antenna. I use a strand of copper wire off radios to pick up distant stations and that works. Remember when cars had a broken antenna and people would replace it them with a coat hanger? I never did but it probably works too.

If Fox was readily available, I would dump cable.

You can stream it via Sling for about $40/month. I'm surprised they haven't offered their own dedicated service for the FNC / business channels only.

Granted I have not checked in a while, but I seem to recall that you choose an episode or program to watch. I didn't think they had live broadcasts of things like The Five or Gutfeld.

That actually doesn't work, at least, it didnt' work for me. The coax is shielded with coating. The old style two wire flat cable, on the other hand, does work for that.

There's a Fox 'app' on Roku, and probably the other streaming devices as well. So not live content, but recent content, in small snippets. You can also find most of the more popular hosts content same day, on Youtube. I occasionally will peep a Tucker Carlson segment, if the folks on patriots.win are talking about it. People will repost the content, so kind of like using a VCR or DVR to record something and watch it later. The only time I have really been left out not having cable is when they put presidential debates on cable channels, or put sports games on cable.

Despite my anger with MLB for their anti-White racism, I thought I might watch a couple of the Astros playoff games this year. When I found out I had to have cable for that, the decision is easy. Not interested.

MY thing against anything to do with satellite TV is the reception goes to hell or just shuts down from cloud/storm coverage, and so it seems, every time I want to watch, because I inside, gee why?? the damn reception is UTA.....Under the Air.....

Yes that is exactly what I did. Not sure how I missed it. I guess I was fixated on your indoor antenna request.
