I had to watch late last night on DVR rather than live so I'm a little late to the party.

Trevor Who?!? (kidding) It was pretty cool to see the Wood Brothers in victory lane at Daytona.

With that said, I can't stand the racing the way it was. There was absolutely no individuality in it. The best driver didn't matter, the best car didn't matter,... the only thing that mattered was not being where the wrecks happened (which were also a result for the most part of the stupid paired drafting crap).

How about that 88 car wiping himself out on the last lap? That was as bad a move as I have seen him make in all of his years racing (and there have been some bad ones).

...and I don't even want to talk about my fantasy team. I'll simply state that it was mostly RCR cars.

My fantasy team was aboslutely horrible this past week. I just wasted a slew of great driver picks.

NASCAR has gone down hill fast since Brian France took the lead position. Old Bill has probably worn out the inside of his coffin from rolling over. I probably won't watch a race now until Talladega or Bristol.

I will watch the race good or bad. Nascar needs to find a way to get some money for the Wood bros. and that Bayne kid,he is the real deal. That will get Nascar back to the top.

The kid won a race at Daytona where almost every single favorite was out of the race. I think calling him the Savior might be a just a bit (lot) premature. In the last 2 years Brad Keselowski won a plate race in a James Finch Racing car and Regan Smith (until a yellow line penalty) won a plate race in a Furniture Row Racing car. These aren't exactly the best drivers and they sure as **** aren't the best cars (although both had Hendrick engines). Hell, Michael Waltrip and Sterling Marlin each have multiple 500 wins.

If the kid goes and wins at Martinsville, Bristol, and Charlotte... we can start talking about him being the real deal. Until then, good for him winning the 500 but it doesn't at all mean that he is a great driver. Plate races are not much more than a crap shoot to pick the winner.

Plate races are 90% luck and 10% pit crew heroics.

I wonder why many of top drivers are not thinking like you about him being the real deal like 4 time champ Gorden ? Ok mister nascar lets hear it.

Read what I wrote before arguing with it.

I never said he wasn't a good driver or that he wouldn't be great someday. The kid obviously has talent (just like Joey Logano, Kyle Busch, Keselowski, and a lot of the other young kids). I said that basing it on the fact that he won the Daytona 500 is premature.

...and it's Gordon, not Gorden.

...and on a side note, weren't you the one yapping about the fact that they are bringing up drivers too soon?? You don't think that a 20 year old who doesn't even have a Nationwide Series win is too soon? Let's look at his career stats from that series shall we?

Starts - 49
Wins - 0
Top 5 - 5
Top 10 - 12
Avg Start - 12.5
Avg Finish - 16.8 (looks to me like he wads up a lot of cars)

He was driving a Roush car in 2010 so you can't blame the car.

Like I said, the kid might turn out to be great but as of right now, he is a kid that got lucky and won the Daytona 500. The fact that Jeff Gordon will draft with him at Daytona doesn't mean a thing.

Since you claim I love Kyle Busch I thought I might use him as a little comparison.

Let's look at their first full season in a Nationwide car and see how Bayne compares to Busch.

Kyle Trevor
Age: 19 19
Starts: 34 34
Wins: 5 0
Top 5: 16 5
Top 10: 22 10
Avg Finish: 9.4 16.3
SERIES POINTS 2nd 8th

You say that Kyle got brought to Cup too soon but that Trevor is the "real deal" and should be in a cup car?

Derek Cope was another one who won his first Daytona race, then you never heard from him again. Daytona & Talladega have long been known for the winners being rookies & unknowns. Any driver who can make it 500 miles & win without a scratch on the car is ready to compete in any division. This new kid had different racing conditions too, the two by two drafting which has never been seen at Daytona before and IMO doesn't need to be seen ever again.

Carl Edwards is my man.

He's from Columbia, Mo, and still makes it his home, and I know some of the people in his circle. Not great friends but more aquaintances than anything.

Edwards is a real good guy who remembers where he came from and does a lot of things in the community. I have personally never heard one bad thing said about him.

Except for a few of the Nascar whiners

Sorry Mike but that's what I think about The 99 and I bet the 17 feels the same way.

Please enlighten me.

I know I am not wrong in the stats that I posted.

I know I'm not wrong in saying that at 19 years old Kyle Busch had a hell of a lot better resume than Bayne.

I know I'm not wrong in remembering that you said that Busch was brought up too soon yet with Bayne you have completely contradicted yourself.

I know I'm not wrong in the fact that winning at Daytona (or Talladega) is not very representative of the best driver.

So please, rather than using a blanket statement... please tell me what it is that I am wrong about.
