bilmem Kumho Exsta XS Tires, anyone tried them?

I just bought a set from Tire Rack. Got 285 up front and 335 for the rear, going a bit wider on stock rims.
These are supposed to be good dry and decent wet tires.

I've been running BFG KD's which are like surf boards in the wet.

I think they will be sticky enough on dry and may give me some wet grip or at least let me drive over 45mph when its raining

Yes Jimmy, next come some much needed firearms

I ran several sets of Kumho's Exstas on my C4 and a set on my C5. They were not bad tires, gripped pretty well for all around driving...don't forget my my C4 and now my C5 were DD's so they saw rain, sun, and even a little snow...well, snow flurries.

They are not on the C5 now because I wanted to try a different brand, but I am seriously leaning towards putting them back on when it is time for new tires (if they come in the sizes I need for the new wheels.)

Joe these XS tires are new and come in a wide variety of sizes. The old (don't know the model) Estra's were never available in a size that fit the rear of the ZR-1.
I ran Kumho Race/AX tires and think that for the money they are a great tire.

These new XS's are supposed to be a decent rain tires with good dry grip but wear out quickly due to the compound.

We'll see they should be here soon and I'll get Rex to mount 'em up and give them a spinn or two.

According to the latest GRM tire test, the Kumho Exsta XS tires are the ones to have if you're running in the Street Tire class. Great grip, predictable, and smooth. You should have "miles of smiles" after you have Rex mount them on your ZR-1.

Yeah it looks like they have a low wear rating and some guys are using them for rain tires at track days. THe BFG KD's I've run for the last 2-3 years on the street are like wake boards when I get caught out in the rain. The XS seem to handle rain a bit better.

Will do...they have a bit of a strange tread pattern, not "vintage" for sure. I went with 335's on the rear and 285 on the front. I was running 335 rear 315 front race rubber on CCW's when I was AXing.

I finally got the tires installed and had the alignment set back to VB Aggressive Street from Aggressive AX.(Thanks Rex)

I'll post some pics this weekend but first impressions of look and feel are good. Fronts turned in nicely on a couple of "test tracks" in the area and the soft tire compound seems to provide some nice grip out back

Do they come in the 325/30 ZR19 size by chance?
