C4 Trim Question

My Black 95 is my first Vette, so I am a relative "Newbie" to Vettes and these forums. My rear marker lights have the remains of some silver trim around them (see below). My question is: was this applied at the factory or is it something someone added later? If it was factory applied, I then need to decide whether to replace it to keep my car closer to factory specs or just get rid of it for a cleaner look. Any suggestions or historic info from you "experts?" Keeping in mind that the word expert can be divided into "/ˈekˌspərt/" in which "ek" a has-been and "/spərt/" a big-drip under pressure!

I think it was something added, I've never seen it before and it's not in any of the pics I just peeped.

Hi Mike, just noticed the name change..

I checked the interweb for high rez pictures of 1995 and 1996 plus the 96 Collector Edition.
All the 96 CE's I find are silver and it's really hard to define the edges of the light lenses.
I thought maybe someone replaced yours with a non-95 pair.

I don't see anything resembling chrome. I'll have to ask my BIL if his 96 CE
has it but he won't be back till Wednesday.

According to my BIL, no chrome trim on his 96 CE. I figure chrome was 'special' and that's why
I checked out 'special' model runs like the CE's.

Maybe you have aftermarket lenses?

Leave it, gets some dubs and paint the logo of a bottle of whiskey on the side, tint the windows pitch black, and you can be rollin'.
Make sure to crack the window and let the man see the smoke billowing out.

Looks like 'chrome' on a plastic piece. If you want to restore it, check out one the Jay Leno's Garage on Youtube. There's one about a sprayon rechroming product in one of the videos.
