Default Lie detector test question
Just for the sake of argument, lets say you were in an alcohol induced stupor 35 years ago and you imagined a made up series of events happened.

Is it possible that you could convince yourself that those imagined events actually happened to where you could pass a lie detector test?

Polygraph examinations are inherently unreliable on people who have no innate problem with lying.

Yes. As long as the person being tested believes something to be true. There are good reasons for polys being inadmissible in court.

Pretty much.

Even in an idealisticly perfect application, polygraphs have no way of knowing reality beyond what the person being tested thinks/knows.

I knew a guy who put a tack in his shoe and he would push his foot down onto the tack before answering any question the person administering the polygraph asked. Worked for him.

I've heard that before, always thought it was some kind of urban legend...but I guess they just measure a response based on heart rate/pulse and what not...if the result is consistent everytime, guess it really doesn't matter what questions are being asked?

I've heard of people being able to cheat a polygraph naturally, and realistically they are more or less snake oil methinks....

Regarding the Kavanaugh thing, seems like drumming up shit that happend over 30 years ago while the guy was in High School is a pretty ridiculous reach.

Frankly, if you are going to start questioning the actions of what somebody did when they were 17 years old in regards to holding public office, that would eliminate about 99.9% of the population. It's fuggin STUPID.

Wouldn't that be the same as waiting for a minor to get old enough and then try them for a crime as an adult? Seems stupid to me.

Company I used to work for gave them to us every six months. Easy to beat.

This was back in my party days. I'd hit one on the way and answer no to drug use questions. The last one I took the examiner told them not to bother sending me again. All my answers were flat. Didn't matter what the question was.

It's only a lie if you don't believe it. Yep. Tell 'em, George.
