I have a big position (relative to my net worth, ymmv) in miners and they have recovered decently, to date. They were down 33% at one point and are still about -9% ~. Winning…

Seems like a good bet still, though. Some folks are saying this is blast off time but they probably say that every year. Time is telling.

Only thing I ever owned that went to zero was a REIT, Thornburg Mortgage. But it was a great dividend payer, beforehand. I’m no expert but in a recession, whether we’re in it now or coming soon, I’m avoiding these.

What are your thoughts?

Thornburg get caught up in the subprime mortgage issues, not real estate holdings issues. They shouldnt have been there.

Can use online dealers or local, etc. More interest is beginning to create alternatives like accounts, credit cards, etc., that allow them to be stored in depositories, including State depositories and used electronically as money~.

Easier to sell electronic stuff like traditional equities and such. Physical stuff is a pain and mostly insurance with an art like quality. I actually prefer numismatic (rare) coins for physical holdings. Most of my investment interest is in equities, miners, royalties, etc.

I dca like other investments and leave it to fate. Hopefully pass it on to next of kin… If they’re worthy.

Probably going to be a lot of corps found to be where they shouldn’t, as this easy money era comes to an end.

Might be a good inflation hedge if they’re easily removable. Most of the gold ever mined is still above ground. Your undertaker would probably “appreciate” your gold teeth.

Broke even (nominally) on my miners position and sold half. Great learning experience that cost me over a year of my time.
