I call them investors. Wealthy ones who can afford to pay someone to build a fence and gate. The property taxes ie costs are figured-in looooong before purchase.

Hell, we just built a 2/2 1700sqft home with chit-tons of upgrades. Because it's located here in world-class hunting/fishing territory year-round it'll easily fetch $250-300/night. The oop costs will be returned in just a few years.
I even have someone to manage it, check-ins/out, cleaning etc for a tiny fee.
$2800 annually for property taxes is a non sequitur.

Floriduh is great. Anyone who lacks basic driving skills should live there. That includes at least half of the US population. Nice flat roads. No dangerous snow and ice, or hills.
