I disagree. I took my '05 up to 125 on the freeway and it felt like it was parked.

I had my C4, & C5's up to 110+; felt nice & solid.

Much prefer the clean, debadged look.

it's because they are all test mules. Many are the same cars that were running around in camo for the last year prior to the release.

I've had my '08 Z06 well north of 160, very stable. With a top speed of 198 from the factory, one would hope it should be stable at 160. When I was at Spring Mountain, and filming from the side of the track, you could hear the whistle of the front splitter aero doing it's job, and they were only doing 125.

For how many miles on public roads? It's nothing to drive at 130 or higher in a big Mercedes or BMW or exotic for a hundred miles. In a Corvette it feels like a dare. I am hoping the C8 does feel like it was built to do it.

I don't understand this, as even my C4 felt completely under control @ 110mph on the interstate with cruise control engaged.

C3's ???? I would agree to the uneasy feeling at higher speeds with them.

In my '74, I think I broke 100 only a couple of times, and that was for a very short distance... (crossing the Granville Street bridge into downtown Vancouver) With my '76, I don't think I had that over 70.

To put it differentl, in my Corvettes, 110 feels like 110. 130 feels like 130. In my Mercedes SL at those speeds it feels like 60.

If you drove any car 130 mph for a hundred miles just about anywhere in the USA you would be in jail that night.

I don't do that on public roads. I did it MANY times at the Bay Bottom Crawl down in the Florida Keys...stayed in it past the finish line for another 1/2 mile. VERY narrow road, uneven pavement, and trees all around. The penalty for mistake could be catastrophic, but the car gave me complete confidence. Again, it's a Z06, so it has much better downforce than a coupe.

Indeed. But you can legally do it on the Autobahn.

Neither does anyone else here the USA, so our cars are not engineered to do it. It is legal on many stretches of the Autobahn and German big rides are engineered to be daily driven at high speeds on public roads.

There are very few roads in the USA that are even in a good enough condition to allow for the performance a modern Corvette is designed for. I only lit up the active handling in my '05 twice and it was not due to me driving too fast. It was the condition of the road that caused it. Specifically a few bumps in the pavement when going around a corner. I was driving wildly trying to keep up with my wife in a four cylinder Camry. I made me rethink if it was worth making payments on a 50K car.

The 125 mph was done on Hwy5 north of Sacramento on flat ground with no other cars in sight. I only did it for a minute or so since 100+ in California is an automatic trip to jail and your car impounded.

I have felt 100% in my C4, C5, C7 at speeds north of 100.
But, if you took a C3 up to about 90... it tended to float a bit.

I know what you are saying though in general.

The C8 is not a $200k ME sports car being made in the USA for $60k base price.
Of the 6 I've seen in person, there will be no confusing the C8 with other ME cars. The C8 will be regarded as the lowest priced, great bang for the buck, 2 seat ME sports car out there, and IMO it looks like it as well.

When I saw the C8 in person it did not give the got to have feeling I had with the C6 and C7. I ended up buying a C6 and a C7. Maybe the C8 will go on me.

I was told by someone "in the know" that future versions of the C8 (Z06, ZR1 and/or Zora) will be more exotic.

That's great, though probably out of my price range. Guess I'll be keeping my C7 for a lot longer; without any ill feeling. Yvonne and I love the car... and so does the public. Still getting a lot more positive comments on it than any of my past Corvettes ever received.
