Sound great. I know it's not for everyone, from reading the posts, but Progressive Rock (not pop or electronic) is an acquired taste.
If their sound isn't for you, check out Dream Theater. Their 14th studio album: Distance Over Time is fantastic. I saw their show in Charlotte and will see it again in a few months as they do their second North American tour, supporting the new album.

I love Dream Theater. Don't have the new album yet, but will likely get it soon. I don't think that I would lump Tool into the same Progressive Rock category as Dream Theater. I can listen to Dream Theater all day, but I can't listen to Tool all day.

Sense Rush has retired, Dream Theater has taken the spot of the Kings of Prog.

I'd heard of Tool but thought they were just another DevilMetal group for some reason. Listened to the entire cut an while not exactly my taste, I found it listenable - surprised me. Made it through all 10+ minutes.

Noticed yesterday my favorite record store (tons of great vinyl) had the the new Tool CD on sale this morning. They posted that they sold out 3 minutes after they opened this morning.

Will be keeping an eye on Tool and thanks for the Dream Theater discussion. Need to explore them as well.

If you end up liking Dream Theater, search for Mike Portnoy, who founded the band. He left in 2010 and has worked with a number of great bands since then. As a drummer, Mike is a machine, and has been named Best Drummer in the World 10 times!

He's currently in Sons of Apollo, The Winery Dogs, and Flying Colors.

Sons of Apollo:

The Winery Dogs:

Flying Colors:

Mike has also played with Avenged Sevenfold:

Stone Sour:

The Neil Morse Band:

Thanks for posting these! ProgMetal is a genre I didn't know existed. Man, Portnoy can play! I enjoy a lot of prog music, though mostly older stuff. And don't shoot me but while I appreciate Rush's talent, the lead singer's voice has always made them Kryptonite fore me. I will spend some quality Youtube time checking these out. Always enjoy finding something listenable that's less than 30-40 years old. .
