A Michigan judge sentenced former U.S. Olympic and USA Gymnastics women’s national team physician Larry Nassar to 40 to 175 years in prison for sexually assaulting young women.

Judge Rosemarie Aquilina’s ruling came after a seven-day sentencing hearing in which more than 100 women confronted Nassar, 54, outlining their abuse and the impact it has had on their lives.

“You do not deserve to ever walk outside a prison again,” Aquilina said. “I’ve just signed your death warrant.”

“You played on everyone’s vulnerability,” Aquilina said. “I’m not vulnerable.”

Nassar, who pleaded guilty in the case, was sentenced to 60 years in federal prison last month on child pornography charges.

“I find that you don’t get it,” Aquilina said.

Aquilina also called for further investigation either by government agencies or the USOC into the culture of abuse that enabled Nassar’s predatory behavior.

Let me first make it abundantly clear that this POS deserves a miserable death. The sentence should be the max allowed by law. Period.

Now, with that said, this:

...is stupid. Sentence him, cart his ass away and be done. Why in the hell would a judge ever feel the need to use the word "I" in this discussion? This has absolutely nothing to do with her and making comments like this serves no intent other than a selfish one to make sure that she catches some of the spotlight. The attention here needs to be focused entirely on the victims, not the judge.

I agree and it also gives the scumbag an appeal because the judge was biased against him. Judges are idiots at times.

Because that is what judges do. There are two reasons they choose to be judges: Ego and power. It sure ain't for the money.

He might appeal, but it won't be because of the judge's statement. Nassar plead guilty. Of course the judge is going to be "biased" against him at sentencing.

Be it civil, criminal, or probate, you should always try to avoid going before the judge.
