Default Anyone run HIDs in the stock housings?

After putting the HIDs in my fogs this weekend I'm considering getting another set for my low beams so the lights all match. Eventhough I got 4300k fogs (not 6000 or 8000k like some get) they still make the Silverstars look yellow.

My main concern is blinding people etc.... any issues? I don't care to spend $600 for projector housings etc.

Don't believe all that "blinding people" BS, Brian. I've run 6000 in both the los beams and fogs for a couple years, and have never had anyone flash me. If your beams are aimed correctly, you won't have a problem at all.
Think about it this way: The stock bulbs are inserted into a housing. It's that housing that determines how the light is projected out. Just because you put a brighter light in the housing, that doesn't change way the light is projected, it just makes it brighter.

I had 6000k in the stock housings for a couple years and didn't like the way it 'leaked' off the sides. No matter how many times I re-installed the bulbs it always leaked off the sides. I did the HID projector upgrade a couple months ago and like them.

I wanted to get the HIDs for the stock housings but too many people said the light pattern was crappy with the stock lenses so I tanked the idea. Some people said you could get different lenses that worked better but then the price started going up for the whole project and I don't drive that much at night anyway.

You'd have to really work at it to blind people with the headlights sitting 20" off the ground.

Let me know if you want my old HIDs (6000k); I'll sell them to you for a good price. They are sitting in the garage and was going sell them when I got around to it.

I run them. The PIAA 1100 fogs made my stock headlights look yellow. The HID's make me PIAA's look yellow.

No one has ever flashed me. Good mod and worth the price. I can't see going full projectors since I seldom driver the car at night.

We are running HID's in both low beams and fogs in both vettes... So far no one has ever flashed us because our lights are too bright... And we have some dark country roads up here where we live....

No one except that transexual midget stripper, but that may be just an internet rumor started by some smartazz.

I ran HID's in my stock housing for about a year. I got flashed by a semi once the whole time I had them installed but the odd thing was, I passed him going in the same direction! Since my lights were adjusted properly, I just chalked it up to his azz being old and the fact that we were out in the middle of nowhere at zero-dark-thirty.

Here's the light pattern I had. These are the low beams:

These are the fogs only. You'll notice that the fogs have a definitive cut off because the fog housings are true HID housings:

Alas, I wanted to go all legal and get something more blingy. Thus, I went with the light cannons:

Wow that fall shot is gorgeous... light pattern doesn't look bad at all. I think I'll order some 4300k lows to match my fogs.

Can anyone explain what's involved in installing the relay setup so the popups work properly? I see JWMotoring sells it seperately from the HID kit.

This only affects the low beam side of the headlight circuit. The best thing to do is get a powered harness to resolve this issue. Since the low beam circuit appears to be underpowered (thus the sucky low beam output), a powered harness resolves that shortcoming.
