Default Check your nuts

A few months after I bought my Vette I noticed some noises in the rear and found out my axle nut was loose, if memory serves me right I torqued to 120lbft. Its been a few months since I last checked and I decided to check them today to make sure they were still tight (they were), then I thought I would pass on to the VB as the C6's are known to have loosening axle nuts for some.

There is debate on how much torque to use, I went with 120lbs, the Chevy document below mentions 160lbft.

Another helpful tip, if using locktite, use blue, not red.

I didn't need to use locktite or order a new nut as the Chevy doc recommends, but I check them a couple times a year to make sure they are tight.

You might want to look into this little item that has been used on the ZR1 axles since 2009. Nord-Lock - Products

I put them on my '10 Z06 and the nuts have never backed off. You can pick them up at a Fastenal store.
