Shortly after we moved into our neighborhood 27 years ago, we had a block party and Terry and her husband were there. Friendly folks but she smoked- Marlboro Lights. Most of us got pretty drunk, and at one point in the evening Terry remarked at how great this was, and that she wanted this neighborhood to be like the one she grew up in: if she did anything wrong her parents would hear about it before she even got home.

Fast forward a few years and her oldest son was about 17 or 18, a big kid and became a problem in the 'hood. Mainly driving antics in his fast car, and whenever an adult male would confront him, he'd respond with threats and occasionally a punch was thrown.

One day I was out in the front yard and two cars came ripping up the street and took the turn into his street so that the son's car left rubber all along the turn: evidence. I walked down the street with a notebook and located the son and two of his friends.

I asked for his buddies names and addresses, and one of the kids asked me why. I told him that I had physical evidence of what occurred and was going to call the police. He was a polite kid and asked that, if he promised not to do it again, would I not call the police this one time. I agreed, he and I shook hands and I left.

Later that evening the son appeared at my front door, miffed that I had "called him out" in front of his friends. So he was there to "call me out'. I took my eyeglasses off, stepped out of the door, got within his reach, and told them ‘here I was’. He backed down.

A day later my mailbox was vandalized. Some unintelligible words spray painted on my driveway. I reported it to the cops, along with the "calling out" incident the night before. The cop told me that they knew about this kid and had their eye on him.

A few weeks went by and my neighbor down the street, who happened to be the chief judge in the county, had enough of the kids antics so had the police step up the surveillance of the supporting streets, and within a week or so gave the kid a handful of tickets. Then his insurance got revoked and he was driving around in his mothers old VW Beetle.

His mother went on a rage- against me. Every time I cut the grass I found a handful of her cigarette butts on my driveway. She obviously tossed them as she drove by. This went on until I left the 'hood a few months ago.

Today I found out that Terry died, 67 years old. My guess, lung cancer. God rest her troubled soul.

Cliffs: Biatch down the street died after raging on me for about twenty years.

The son died in an industrial accident a few years after he "called me out". God rest his troubled soul.

While this doesn't have quite the same cachet as the story about the former bully who died of ass cancer, congratulations anyway. You should open up a bottle of something special to toast the occasion. I would.

Damn that kid to hell for leaving a rubber mark on the road! Who would ever do such a thing! It was your civic duty to run them down and threaten minor children. Hell you should have removed their tires off the rim on the spot. But running to the CHIEF JUDGE was most definitely the best move to turn his life around.

I would have had a nice talk with the mother and tell her while reminding her this is what she had hoped for. But that is just me.

I will also guarantee that if we had that conversation and you decided to go after my minor kid instead of talking to me it would have been your butt you would be picking up off your driveway. I am sure your neighbor lady felt unsafe with you as well.

It is every bit almost as good, and at least as good as the one about the neighbor that married the gold-digger and then got taken to the cleaners by the gold-digger shortly after. At least as good.

On a serious note, I have found that assholism tends to run in families. If the kid is a **** up, likely he learned it from his parent or parents, if by some rare chance, there are two of them.

Some years ago, there were a couple of guys in my neighborhood who didn't like me. They have all moved away now. I'm sure it's because I scared the shit out of them. Good thing Yaddy doesn't live in my neighborhood.
