Is it possible Putin is imitating Napoleon's strategy at Austerlitz ?
Napoleon used strategic bluffs like withdrawing troops from areas he held in the Pratzen Heights and in Austerlitz itself, he gave up good defensive ground, pulling his troops back in a disorderly fashion and created the impression of an army in retreat and disarray. All this was done before a meeting with a Russian envoy.
Back to today, look how the reports are that the Russian Army is in a stalemate or even losing and retreating in areas. How the troops are in various states of confusion and ineptitude. Could this be a ruse, using a the famous strategy Napoleon used to beat the powerful Russian Army over two centuries ago? Makes me wonder. |

Everything I have seen so far tells me it is not an impression. It's as ****ed up as it looks. All that marching in a straight-line stuff in Red Square looks intimidating, but the world is now witnessing a military they thought was far more organized than it is. I don't think most people ever thought the Russian military could be as much of a disorganized goatfk as it is. I remember when these jokers invaded Afghanistan back in 79. Pretty much a repeat |
