It costs money to move , uproot, and find jobs, and lose seniority.
I get it. Cali is beautiful and the weather does not suck.
The earth moves and burns sometimes though, so playing the odds is just
that.

Living anywhere you're playing against the odds.

We don't have Hurricanes, Blizzards, Flooding or Tornadoes. Just Fk'ing Liberals that keep moving out here.

Is it there after flooding, Hurricanes and tornadoes?

But they've infested our state when we use to be a Red state. And we get stuck with the Nancy Pelosi's, Maxine Waters, and Gavin Newsom's.

Tornados and flooding are rare in WNY and Rehoboth Beach Delaware if you live away from the beach.
Ya, Buffalo had blizzards and was cold as balls for four months, but my house was never compromised.

So just cut it down when maybe 1/4 size and let it die out after a few years of doing that.....no more growth, no more fuel.....

So we have this stuff in the chaparral called manzanita. Fire doesn't even need to touch it, as if gets hot enough, the oil inside it causes it to explode into flames.

Grows like weeds, not like forest. Can't imagine what it would take to eradicate the threat, but this is not anything like trimming up to 10' to keep the fire on the ground.

Imagine having to mow the entire surface area of every mountain every year.

Wasn't that/similar work done up untill say 50 years ago or so?? why was it stopped, or has the population/housing been planted in all the hazard regions??

So... here’s your forest that you think should be cut down to 1/4 size.

And so, it already burned the year before, but the spring rain caused the chaparral to grow in a few months. Then it burned again. This fire started 30 miles from my house and spread in four hours while I was asleep. Today it looks like it never burned.

You have actually zero clue about how growth cycles work here in California.

Generally, you go through the California Fair Plan for wildfire insurance. It is pricey. But you pay to play.

Not really. If you can afford a 2-65 million dollar home depending where it's at then the insurance isn't a problem. Like owning a Ferrari. You don't worry about maintenance and insurance when you buy one.

No one here forgets. People may choose to be unprepared, but no one forgets.

Just like any other natural disaster in any part of the country, you either choose to be prepared or you choose not to be.

And if one chooses to live in California, they need to make good choices based on their financial ability. Simple as that. Don’t move here in a high risk zone if you can’t afford to leave if you need to. It’s all about personal accountability.

Where you live and what you pay is similar to the Hot/Crazy Woman chart.... on the one hand, you can have an insanely hot woman, but she will be correspondingly cray cray. At the opposite end of the spectrum you can have a very stable and intelligent woman, but she has the face of Mother Theresa and the body of Rosie O’Donnell.

So Buffalo.......
