We all know that as an older group 40+...a lot in the 50s & 60s, that some of us might not have much of a friendship group
or social circle. Thats where online hobby forums have been a great outlet to connect & participate with folks that we have something in common with, & share our day to day musings & stories & opinion of latest events.
Over time we may feel a kinship & a comfort level to share even our mundane things of no consequence, but they still have meaning to us.

A popular member might share his story about detailing a friends car & receive 2-3 pages of positive comments....

...then why in the **** would you beat up on Yadkin for sharing his meaningful event that connects the past with the present & ends with a thought provoking conclusion ?

On most of the civil forums I visit, it would have prompted others to share their own stories about similar situations & events.
(EDIT: I reviewed the responses & saw that some folks did relate similar accounts that they had also .)

I have had experiences like that recently with old girlfriends that are on facebook, & there is a tangible feeling you have when
you evaluate the then & now & ponder on your path in life.

Anyway, this comment wasnt derived solely on the continuously lousy treatment of a good Conservative man-Yadkin,
it is about what I have seen on this site as a very off putting pattern of hostility that is freely exercised by a few folks who
think they are still the A crowd in high school .

You may be missing a few things...
History & Context.

Most here are refugees from CFOT and CFPR&C.
Try to understand and appreciate that history. It goes back 15-20 years for many/most. And back then CFOT was knock down drag out...often the "strike force" was brutal. The ensuing mayhem was crazy and entertaining. Most survived and some got left in the rubble.

The internet forums were new and many were not long out of high school or college. And boys will be boys. Especially on a car forum that's like a locker room or parking lot full of hot rodders and trucksters and bikers...

What you are witnessing is spill over from those times. Many fools and assholes have grown up and are much less of a douchebag. (I believe I fit that description)

But 18 or 80, weakness and errors will be capitalized upon. Thick skin and a sense of humor is a requirement.

However...
Check out a thread when someone is hurting...loss of a loved one, or a pet. Check out a thread where someone has a joy or accomplishment to share. Check out a thread where someone asks for expert advice and receives it in spades from many many walks of life. (just recently Clark was having a mini emergency and within seconds he received helpful posts here)

Sometimes in the heat of the moment, some will go a bit too far. Usually on forums nowadays that is immediate banning. But here other members will give a heads up "dude that's over the line" and as long as the perp cools off it's all good. but if you double down douche...you are on thin ice.

As far as Yadkin goes. Steve is obviously a good guy. Smart. Articulate. Conservative. A great husband and father. He's a bit of a know-it-all, but that's expected from many in his profession. He made a few mistakes (like we all do) and he doubled down. That created some animosity and put him in the crosshairs. (BTDT) But I have respect for the man and to this day have kept my word with him to not call him the K word. (even though he broke that agreement, but I digress)

Of course, none of this is relevant if you are a liberal/leftist woke ignorant snowflake fool. If one fits that mold he is better off on twitter, facebook or huffpost where he will receive a warm welcome and a fresh blankie.
