Default Interesting observation about Chrome...

My hand built monster computer, about to have 16 monitors, has been bullet proof since I built it, but for some reason, over the past 6 weeks or so, it's been blue screening. It's gotten to the point that it was almost daily.

When I move the Chrome browser from one window to another, the screen refresh of the title/address bar is delayed, and it takes time for me to be able to type in an address.

Fast forward to last Thursday forward, I've done everything in Microsoft Edge and not one single crash. What gives? I like Chrome, and would prefer to use Chrome, but not at the expense of destroying my operating system.

Is this when cranking Chrome up? Do you ever see the "downloading proxy settings" or something like that in the lower left corner? My Chrome was just getting draggy as hell till I cut that shit off.

Check your ram....chrome is the biggest memory hog of all the browsers, something about keeping the individual processes separate. I regularly see chrome up over 800mb of ram.

I use Chrome for almost everything but have found that if I stream from Twitch or some other streaming services (not all, just some) that it doesn't take long for everything browser-related really starts slowing down until it looks like my internet connection is broke. I was just closing all Chrome windows and re-opening them to "fix this" but have found that if I stream in the Edge browser and use Chrome for other stuff (YouTube vids are fine in Chrome BTW) then I never have this problem. Also some images posted here do not display in Chrome on my computer but work fine in Edge. But I like Chrome because of uBlock Origin and Ghostery add-ons.

Because uber-mega power user. I find myself completely lost and claustrophobic with the current setup of 12.

Update: I just ordered the rest of the hardware to make it an even 18. I've ordered 18 wall mounted LCD brackets and am designing a modular scaffolding structure to hold all 18, 3 rows of 6. I only have a picture of the current 12, but will at lest connect the other 4 to make sure all 16 work, but I won't use the new 4(6) until I build the scaffolding.

Is it set up as one huge desktop?

I’d like to have two 27” monitors running off an IMac. Three total. I run two now with a MacPro. Seems like it would be really tough to navigate that much desktop.

Chrome has pre-set limits of how much ram it can access, you may need to see about increasing the allowed ram usage if that’s the case. Although I suspect the hardeste acceleration fixed your problem.

Computer hasn't crashed once since last Thursday. Was using Edge until yesterday, and left Chrome open last night without the hardware acceleration on, and it's still good to go.

Yes, it's one HUGE desktop. I am a software engineer and data architect. I work full time from home and average 70-80 hours per week behind my computer. With the current 12-monitor setup, this graphic illustrates my day-to-day life. You will see that I only have TWO free screens to do my active work, and by active, I might have 20-30 spreadsheets open, as well as 6-8 folders open (I create a TON of files for data loading), and 20-30 Notepad++ instances with code in them.

Everything else is pre-positioned so that when I get an email notification, or instant message from my family, all I do is turn my head and look. I don't have to go hunting for the application that would otherwise be buried somewhere.

With the forthcoming setup, I will now have numerous new screens to house all of the open clutter that I have in the 2 free monitors. This will be the last time I expand, as I see no further benefit to going beyond 18.

I will likely expand that VMWare yellow box to use 6 screens, as 3 is way too cramped.
