That's the great thing about this country. We have courts to evaluate specific instances and render considered judgement rather than subject everyone to the whims of those who "know what's best" for the rest of us.

I generally agree that a lot of parents out there are unqualified for the position on a variety of subjects, including the basics of health maintenance. But I also think that there are parents who are equally unqualified for the position based on an ignorance of the value of hard work and honesty.

Again, the self annoited do not get to pronounce judgement on the rest of us. As for the particular issue of "severe obesity", where are you gonna draw the line? And how can your liberal ideals allow you to remove a child from their family for this or any other reason short of a clear and immediate danger as adjudicated by someone with the training and responsibility to make those decisions?

Parents have the right to tell their kids any kind of fairy tale story they want to. They do not have the right to deny them a legitimate education. That is exactly what is going on here.

Bullshit. Our co-pilot was raised with exactly this set of beliefs and graduated #1 in her class (which is why we hired her). The belief system had jack shit to do with her education or qualifications and as long as she flies the plane safely, I don't care if she believes in Keynsian economics.

That belief in the big bang theory is in direct conflict with creationism.

I'll grant you that we don't know what happened prior to that, but that doesn't necessitate interjecting god into the equation. We didn't understand gravity once either.

So God started a process that led to where we are today, instead of speaking a few words and creating it wholesale. Doesn't disprove anything.

But we already know how this process works. DNA is constantly bombarded by alpha, beta, and gamma radiation which can cause cancer or can cause gene mutations which can then be passed on to offspring. The beneficial mutations give the new organism breeding advantages which then change - evolve - the species.

But since the vast majority of the changes are deleterious, the mutations should be a hindrance. No way you can say with any authority at all that the universe is completely random, and that some of the alpha particles, etc of which you speak are not guided somehow.
