153 acres for sale nearby for $475,000. No cows to annoy.

That's about the price I'd expect to pay. How's the terrain? Lot of elevation changes, or relatively flat?

Beyond my budget. I'm looking at $1,500-2,000 an acre. Probably settle in at 35-50 acres.

Zip Corvette has C6 diffs built for "severe duty" in a variety of final gears. The stock ratio should be 3.42 and you can find 3.73, 3.90, and 4.10 systems to suit your needs.

Wiser words have not been spoken.

I did the exact same thing with my C5Z. Sink $20k into it to end up with a car worth half as much.

If you really are considering going balls out with it, think about the alternative route of selling and buying a car that is already finished. No matter how many times I do the math, it comes out cheaper to do it this way.

I backed out of the Z06 before the point of no return, sold all of the track parts (for a profit I might add), and bought my entire race car for less than what it would cost, in addition to the actual car itself, to build the Corvette into something race ready.

In all fairness, it is in a gazillion pieces right now being rebuilt because I pretty much killed it.

That being said, what can you get a whole center section for?
This is the way I would go. When metal starts going places it shouldn't go in rear ends, all sorts of bad (and hard to find) things start happening.

If it's a street car driven down the highway, it would be fine. If you are beating the hell out of it, you want to KNOW that everything is good or you will be digging it back apart in short order.

In fact, I know of a 650 hp NA car, with Z suspension and QA1s, you could scap up for ~$20k.
Hell, the motor alone would nearly cost that.

Not sure if it is the same or even if the your Vett has the same type but whenever any of my posi rear ends would start clunking, I would just change out the fluid and add a new bottle of posi fluid from the dealer. Seems the posi clutches need fresh lubricant and additives every couple years.

Tell me about it.

That was the "team" car, the next time out after mine let loose.

The original meaning of POW! (Pissed Off Wife) also held true when the credit card charges to fix the associated carnage started to show up.
