It didn't go straight like in the photo above as planned, when the outboard caught the dam it hooked, and took a nose dive..

The river current was pretty strong and fast, the boat was a heavy 23 foot wood Thompson so it took a long time to get to a shore paddling. A mile or more maybe..

We went past a Tug Boat and asked for help, he had a loud speaker and just said... "Paddle"

We walked back up river and talked them into towing us back to their dock on the Tennessee side.

Really great guys we met there, they let us stay in their work lounge area a few days while we were trying to arrange repairs, and helped me find a buyer for the boat when we decided the trip was over.

Even gave us a jar of Moonshine.

In '87 I'm thinking I either had the Cutlass Supreme, or Buick Regal. I also had a V65 Magna around this time.

I went through a lot of cars in those years.
