I figure once I understand the terms of the market, I would be better off in making my own decisions. So an IRA. Ill look into that.

Joe....If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask Craig, or myself. He seems to know his chit.
I personally won't tell you what to do, but I'll point you in the right direction, so that you can make the most informed decision with your money as possible. Once you get a feel for the thing, you'll be on your own, but it's always good to bounce your thoughts off of other people.

Indeed. When learning a new subject, surround yourself around people with more knowledge than you have. Sit quietly and listen.

That's not bad at all for one month, especially given the nature of the fund. Plus I know it will help you reach your annual goal!

Default Let's Talk Trends....

You guys know by now, that I look at the close on Fridays, and use that for my analysis.... It's not BS , it's real, and it works.
For the past three weeks, the S&P closed lower, Friday over Friday. This three week occurrence constitutes a trend. If you don't believe that the market will continue down after this happens, you should not be in this game. Look at the closes for the past 5 weeks, and look how the big guys keep retail in the game. It may seem insignificant to the layman, but this is how you determine how to rebalance, if you aren't adept enough to call a top or bottom...
The S&P is down 4.6% from it's top, as of today's close. Another 15%, and I'll be back in, balls to the walls.... If Romney gets elected , however, all bets are off...
Here are the S&P closes for the past 5 Fridays.

Today -1412
Oct 12 -1428
Oct 5 - 1460
Sep 28- 1440
Sep 21- 1460

September 28th kept retail in the game, but it was all downhill from there.
There's your lesson for the day...Happy trading !..

Last week Friday, the S&P closed at 1412
Today, she closed at 1414..
The market, being closed for 2 days, really threw off the dynamic, but the trend is still in place, imo.
1414 is close enough, with all of the BS that happened with the hurricane this week.
Amazing....Isn't it?

I'm wondering if the top dogs will start spending their capital now that the election is over ? No reason to hoard.

Lots of reason to hoard...but I could see settling the taxes as a good catalyst at a minimum.

Stocks are going to tank. Futures already down 100 points. Now the focus on the street will be on the Fiscal Cliff. With the house still firmly in Republican control, this could be interesting. I see Congress trying to punish Obummer.

Not happening. The House knows that not coming to some sort of an agreement on the fiscal cliff would almost definitely throw the country into another recession because of the higher taxes and cuts in gov't spending, and no one is going to commit political suicide to punish Obama. Look for corrections trending downward through the end of the year. If they can come to an agreement, the chances of a recession are about 30%. Either way, we're in for a fairly rocky 6-9 months, after which the market will recover nicely.
